Amit Tandon (Manthan of Kyunki...) is flying off to the US after ten days. Reason? Amit is missing his sweetheart Ruby Dhaliwal, a Sardarni staying in New York. It is likely that Amit will get engaged to Ruby, before he returns to India.

Pyaar ka bukhar

Ruby is a doctor by profession. She had come to India about four months ago, for her apprenticeship. During this visit sparks flew and both told each other those sweet-nothings.

"We met for the first time in New York but then we just talked and spent some time together. After that, we kept in touch. We got to know each other really well when she was in Mumbai for her medical work," says Amit.

It's official!

"We have decided to get married. The marriage may happen in May 2007. Ruby and I are likely to exchange rings when I reach. My parents are in New York. Her parents are in Canada and they may come to New York for few days. In all probability, the families will make this relationship official now," he adds.

Amit and Ruby had to face some parental resistance. But now, the families have come around and things are better. Reveals Amit, "Ruby's parents had some reservations. They were apprehensive about the fact that I am an actor. And I don't blame them. An actor's financial condition is very unpredictable these days. Today you have work, tomorrow you don't."

Ek baar phir...

Once again, Amit Tandon has lost his pie to Iqbal Khan. In Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, Tandon was first supposed to do Angad's role, which eventually went to Iqbal. It has now happened in Karam Apna Apna. Says Amit, "Whatever decisions are taken by Ekta Kapoor are never wrong.

She knows television the best. Maybe she wants to establish my Manthan character in Kyunki... more, that's why I am not doing Karam Apna Apna." Amit made his first splash on television with Indian Idol.
