OS Series: The Heartbeat Chronicles 5 UPDATED

"Khushi feel it. Come on, feel it!

"Arnav are you insane? This is so awkward and everyone is watching!"

"So? They are friends what's the big deal? And we are university people everyone is mature here."

"Arnav the big deal is that it is awkward! Also just because we are in university doesn't mean people won't talk!"

Arnav came closer towards her and gently he grasped her small hand and placed it on his chest. Khushi's doe eyes widened at his action and gulped. The butterflies inside of intensified at the moment. Her gaze focused on his hard chest and listened to the beat of his heart. She felt the heat of his gaze on her and her heart began to thump harder.

Arnav leaned in closer and whispered down at her.

Khushi nodded numbly.

"Why do you think it's beating so fast?"

Her eyes travelled slowly up to meet his eyes. The answer was clearly portrayed in his brown, deep eyes. Tingles travelled down her spine and she backed away from him.

"I- I have to go."

Khushi whispered and she ran as if her life depended on it.

Arnav looked at her retreating figure and smiled.

Owen, Arnav's best friend shook his head chuckling at the incident.

"Dude, do you think she figured it out?"

Arnav smiled

"Yeah she has, but she will keep denying it. That's okay I have the entire year to convince her."

"I know you love me, Khushi Kumari Gupta' and I am going to show, I love you too."

I know it is short, but this is a real incident, although I sort of spiced it up ;)

Khushi was enjoying a beautiful, quiet day at the library. It was the perfect place to lose herself in a good book. Nothing could grasp her attention, just her book and her fantasy world was all that mattered.

Five minutes or so passed as her spine began to tingle. Warm breath washed to her neck and the scent of peppermint overwhelmed her senses. The beats of heart thumped louder and she felt her blood rushing faster. Now she understood what was happening. He was near.

"Arnav… what are you doing?"

She whispered her eyes still fixed on her book.

Arnav smirked lightly at his best friends flushed face. He was enjoying this very much and he was going to continue with this act. He moved much closer to her and he heard the thumping of her heart. The beautiful sound almost made him lose his ounce of control, but he held on. Jumping the gun right now wasn't appropriate.

"Oh nothing just sitting here, you know usual stuff. What are you doing Jalebe?"

Khushi rolled her eyes at his nickname for her. Ever since they were kids he called her that. No matter how much she scolded him for using that nickname he never stopped. Teasing her was his favorite hobby and they both knew it.

"I am… reading… Um Arnav could you… move?"

Khushi asked him rather hesitantly. If he stayed anymore closer to her she knew the life inside of her would expire. Limbs, in her body were already giving away. She thanked the heavens that she was seated or things would have turned out utterly embarrassing

Arnav pretended to think for a moment and then shook his head in denial. Not that she could see him since her doe like eyes were still focused on the book.

"Nope I feel comfortable here."

"Arnav… please…"

"Nope I don't feel like it."

Khushi gulped, her head was starting to feel light. This was not going to end well and she had to escape, but how could she? She couldn't even get up. Her body wasn't responding to her pleas.

"You know Khushi… you have really beautiful hair..."

Arnav huskily whispered to her taking a strand of her smooth dark hair. He gently twirled it around looking at her flustered face. He saw her body squirm uncomfortably, but at the same time he saw the desire in her doe like eyes. She still didn't face him.

"Arn-av stop, ple-ase."

"What if I don't want to…?"

"Well," she said gulping down the butterflies that were jumping in her gut. "I will stand up and walk away!"

With that being said she clumsily got up from her chair, stuffed her book inside her bag and stumbled out the library leaving a laughing Arnav behind.

"Denial isn't something you're good at Khushi Kumari Gupta…"
