Are we Headed for a Role Reversal in IPKKND/DKS?

.My 1st discussion post on this forum, please be kind😆

I have come to accept that this show is Didi Ki Saut and nothing more. If GH and the PH are hell-bent on showing kitchen politics, then so be it--Mujhe manzoor hain. Coming to my point..

This was Gautam Hedge's tweet regarding the essential storyline of IPK:
"it may come across as hindrnc but the concpt of IPK was didi ki souten- a man torn btwn 2 women he loved n his sis torn btwn 2 men she loved"

So according to this, we've already seen the former take shape in the show. However, the Anjali-Arnav-Khushi angle doesn't really exist anymore with Khushi missing in the picture. Now with news that Anjali will be meeting Shyam soon, we can expect the latter (in bold) to also manifest in the story...Right? The Arnav-Anjali relationship is bound to undergo another rift with him finding out she has secretly been meeting Shyam. I feel we are heading for a role reversal now where Anjali will go through the same plight that Arnav has for the past two weeks...and she will be in a turmoil between Shyam and Arnav.

Now I ask you, how do you feel about this? Is this a better approach to the DKS story than having Arnav torn between Khushi and Anjali? (I know many don't like DKS from any angle but we have to accept that they are not going to change the premise of this story drastically...)

Here are my two cents about this... I say, if DB wanted a lot more depth to her character, this would provide just that. I can definitely compromise with this track under the circumstance that it is balanced with ArHi. I feel the problem with the Anjali-Arnav-Khushi angle was that we knew either way, Arnav was at a loss. It's trivial to put him in that position and is itself a regressive concept. This Arnav-Anjali-Shyam track has a much better scope and possibility for growth in all the characters.

This shouldn't take away from Arnav and Khushi's story. That needs to be the primary focus because we were promised a love story. What I'm saying is, instead of having Anjali feeling that Khushi is the root cause of the entire fiasco, and Arnav in turmoil between two, it's much better to show Anjali torn now. And I hope that's where we're headed because this has more potential than "a man torn btwn 2 women he loved".

I have not been able to understand Anjali's character these past weeks. So I want to see how Anjali deals with the same kind of situation Arnav has been in. Arnav obviously would choose Anjali as he has already stated that she is the most important person in his life today. And somewhere along the line, Khushi instinctively and wholeheartedly supports his choice--she proved that today. But Shyam is not going to give up so easily so Anjali truly would be put in a tough tribulation--the man she considers her God or her brother? This angle is much more interesting. I think Arnav's dialogues today will also hold of much significance. "Loving Khushi does not change anything, you will remain the most important person in my life", this will put Anjali in a testing time. Can she return the same importance and love to Arnav when Shyam is in question? I would love to see how her character grows with this turmoil and would give chance for more depth depending on how she deals with this situation.

So CVs, if it's going to be Didi Ki Saut or nothing, fine. If you are going to claim that Anjali is a very integral part of this story, fine. But at least focus on the second-half of your concept from now on. Drop Arnav's turmoil between Anjali and Khushi, it's regressive. I don't think viewers mind "a sis torn btwn 2 men she loved" but they definitely will not have "a man torn btwn 2 women he loved" stuffed down their throats. period.😡

So any thoughts? Comments? Criticism?

Leave your comments, don't worry I don't bite...much 😉😆

Yeah I have accepted the fact that this is the story of two siblings and how their life undergo changes when they find love of their lives...It is DKS...
but now its high time they should turn the story other way...which I think they are doing...
Would be interesting to watch how Anjali handles such situation...

Very good post Puja!!! The while idea and concept behind DKS will never get accepted by fans bc this is not what we were promised. We were promised a love story and thats the reason we started watching this show and fell in love with it. I also think that the reason they brought up tbis whole DKS waz cuz they wanted to show anjali more and this waz the only way to do it so that we dint complain alot(which we always will bc we dont want DKS show or concept). Secondly i agree that instead of showing a man forn between 2 impot ppl in his life it shuld be anjali. So i like it better if they show anjali instead torn between 2 men, however the MAIN FOCUS SHOULD STILL BE ARSHI!! Yah they can show anjali and sham here and there but always focus more on arnav and khushi!! This story waz always about 2 starcrossed lovers( it waz a concept of love and hate) and it will always be no matter what!!

exactly... We as fans have to accept this... the PH is not going to completely change the concept of IPKKND just becausse fans are sending hate messages. But I want Nayi Sooch even with this DKS track. I want to see how Anjali deals with the turmoil, it will definitely give Daljeet the meaty role she hoped for. 😆 I would be willing to compromise with this.

I wouldn't mind seeing this. As much as I love Arnav-Khushi I don't mind seeing Anjali-Arnav scenes that contain the same sanctity they had originally. And when faced with a dilemma of choosing between her husband and her brother, we'll likely see something more poignant than jealousy over her brother's attention for his wife.

For me personally, the exploring of Anjali's conflict between Shyam and Arnav IS necessary! She wants to beleive Shyam, but she trusts her brother!

Shyam may poison her, saying that Arnav's love for Khushi has BLINDED him to the truth etc etc... However, now that Khushi has REMOVED herself from the situation, there is less tension on that front!
I think the "Conflict" will only last for Anjali until she realizes that Shyam IS a con artist! THAT she needs to realize on her own! No one can tell her that!! ONCE she gets that... she will cut him off for good, and probably extract Revenge in a way that neither Arnav NOR Khushi, or the Gupta's have from him to date!

Thank you! @bold: yes, we were promised a love story and I expect one when all is said and done. But the pace they were going these days, Anjali was just a kabab main haddi character. I want her turmoil, I want the dynamics of her character more than how she impacts ArHi's relationship. Agree, ArHi needs to be the focus here, but if Daljeet wants to remain integral, this role is more promising.
I mean we cannot ask for everything, but I just don't want them to ruin the show by relying on the typical kitchen-politics of daily Indian soaps.

Agree. I don't really know how they will project this story hense forth but PLEASE don't have this torn Arnav anymore. It's not necessary.

^^yes, exactly! there is high chance that Shyam is out for revenge once again. But as long as Khushi is gone, how is Anjali going to blame her? She can't. And Arnav will be on Khushi's side with all this... It will be Anjali struggling between the two most important men in her life. I don't want this to be dragged either because like you said, she needs the full truth of Shyam. But for now, CVs need to drop the Anjali-Arnav-Khushi angle in the story. It's hard for me to digest scenes where Anjali is out-right jealous of Khushi and Arnav spending time together... seriously???🤢

^^Yes, the problem with the past DKS was that Anjali's behavior was so typical. Arnav torn between Anjali and Khushi is equally as cliche (only difference was the saas had now become his sister). It had ktichen-politics written all over it. But the angle is interesting when Anjali must go thru the same situation and how she ends up dealing with it all... Again, CVs should not deter from ArHi in anyway.
The only problem with this is the question of whether Arnav would allow Shyam stay for his sister's happiness??? 😕 That would ruin this entire conviction. 😆

yah i agree! Honestly the pace of the show these days and anjali becoming kabab mein hadi gets a bit annoying and frustrating at times. I wuld also like to see anjalis character becoming stronger and being able to think and decide on her own. I feel shes so weak and always needs someone to support her which is why she is shattered now. One more thing about daljeet, she knew from the beginning when she waz given the character and scrip what to expect, if this show is about a love story she should have know it wil have more focus on the main leads but im not sayingg her character is not important infact she waz the one who brought arshi closer. I like her and its high time she comes strong out of all this!
