Intelligent v/s masala movies

i was just thinking y cant audience love both equally .when Sallu does mindless action movies with no story that has item numbers do chaar dhamakedaar dialogs like BG,Ready,Dabaang people enjoy it the movie become superhit .But when the same Sallu does movie with a strong story like Phir Milenge it is thrashed by audience .i personally liked his performance in that movie .

Same goes for Akshay when he does masala movies like Housefull ,RR they become blockbusters but when he does a tasveer even dogs abandon those cinema halls

same goes for SRK ,Ajay in fact all the superstars

y cant Audience appreciate good stories great performance .i would like to clarify i m no where negating the prominence of masala movie .it is loved by all even i enjoy them

so y cant BW churn out movie that has MIXTURE of both intelligence and entertainment .Y is the balance always disproportionate or uneven

i know some say audience go to watch movies to unwind themselves for enthrallment .but can they enjoy Intelligent(i mean movie with a strong story and taut screenplay and good performance ) just as the masala movies

y cant directors like Sajid ,Rohit shetty ,prabhu deva make movies that are intelligent as well masala entertainers

it should be Intelligent+ masala and not Intelligent v/s masala

so do u think BW can ever make movie that has a strong script ,great performance ,entertainment quotient and make the same collection as masala movies

DOES THE FILMMAKERS HAVE TO TAKE THE AUDIENCE ALWAYS FOR GRANTED IN THE NAME OF MASALA MOVIES OR THEY TRY TO TREAD AGAINST THE TIDE DO CERTAIN LOGICAL EXPERIMENTATION BUT KEEPING THE ENTERTAINMENT QUOTIENT HIGH

I dont think its about story , its about screen play & editing . If dabang or RR had lousy screenplay & erratic editing it would have flopped
just masala cant save a movie . Proof - so many masala movies getting canned

It's because the Indian filmgoers are a bunch of mindless zombies, to enjoy intelligent masala movies, you need a brain first of all... why do you think Sallu's "ATBB" all flop in the American market? 😆

There is no such thing as masala movies and intelligent movies...Movie making is a business...its commercial...jo hit ho gayilog unko masala movie kehte hain...otherwise wo art movies hain😆...

I think there are some movies which are both masala and intelligent. Rang De Basanti comes to mind right now. If I think of others, I'll add them here. Ek Tha Tiger may be one of those, though one never knows.
Its just that some recent movies, especially those who are remakes of a certain specific kind of South Indian film, have been over the top crass, and it begins to seem as if that is all that Bollywood produces. But on the whole, more interesting movies, across big and small budgets, are being made all the time.
