and when both the leads are available didn't they show lame tracks ,and waste time.

I believe if Barun thinks he can juggle both and do justice to both then there shouldn't be any problem.
He comes across as a level-headed person. The movie he has taken up seems to a small budget film which does not require long outdoor shoots etc.
Also I am very sure, he could not imagine what furore it wud create when he announced his decision... He probably cud have not known what effect it wud have on his fans. Rumors started and went out of control before any statement or clarification cud be given.
