After Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Sanjay Dutt, it is Akshaye Khanna has turned to singing. Recently he recorded a song for his forthcoming film Aap Ki Khatir. This is Akshaye's first attempt at singing.
Known to be extremely particular about whatever he takes up, the actor was very excited about the prospect of singing when producer Ratan Jain approached him with the idea. Akshaye sang a nazm composed by music composer Himesh Reshammiya with lyrics written by Sameer. When contacted, Akshaye confirmed the news. "I really had a blast recording the nazm. Sameer has done a great job with the poetry and Himesh's music is mind-blowing," he said.
However, convincing Akshaye to sing wasn't easy for Jain. "Even though Akshaye loves the music, it took a lot of convincing to finally make him sing.' On Jain's persistence, Akshaye consented and the song was recorded.
Himesh, on his part expressed his excitement over the project. 'I have attempted to do something different,' he said. "Akshaye's voice is deep and soothing. His romantic soul gets reflected through his singing. His voice suited the song perfectly, especially the portions on love. It's sure to touch a chord with his female fans." Producer Ratan Jain added "Himesh always wanted to try something different. Along with Akshaye, they have succeeded in doing that."
