OS: A hateful(?) holi
Hey guys so I'm going crazy thinking about tomorrow's episode and this thought just popped into my head. So of course I had to write it down. Here goes...
"What the-? Come again?"
"I said you're a rakshaas!" she leaned in, closing the gap between them, bellowing into his ear, "RAKSHAAS LAAD GOVERNOR!"
Arnav winced and pulled back.
"What the f-? Khushi tum pagal hogayi ho kya?"
"I told you didn't I? Bachpan se!" With that, she erupted giggling like a madwoman. Arnav's hold on her form slackened and she fell backwards onto the floor while holding her stomach, apparently finding the turn of events very funny.
The sight in front of his eyes took his breath away to say the least. He could barely tear his eyes away from her crimson cheeks tainted now with more than just red colour. There was no doubt in Arnav's mind that flushing came from the drink she'd just gulped down, judging from the empty silver glass resting by the poolside. Her eyes were hooded and glazed over in intoxication and her smile reached ear to ear as she showcased those pearly white teeth. It was one of the most enchanting sights he had ever seen. He felt his chest tighten and realized that somewhere he had missed that carefree laughter, that innocent twinkle. Part of him felt relieved that he hadn't robbed her of it despite all his determination to make her hurt...as much as she had hurt him...perhaps even more.
The admiration for the creature in front of him soon gave way to loathing, loathing for himself. What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he stick to any one path? Why did he keep wavering? The great Arnav Singh Raizada who prided himself on always having one up on his opponents, to be able to coerce them into doing anything and everything he wanted and to always be able to think with his head. Now that very Arnav Singh Raizada was being wrapped around this girl's finger, every day the binding becoming tighter and tighter no matter how hard he tried to break free and that Arnav Singh Raizada found his head starting to succumb to his heart. The very "dil" she said was non-existent but that now he had very much started to become convinced was there, weakening with every touch, with every look, with every word... He cursed himself for being so useless.
"I hate you Laad Governor!"
Arnav's eyes widened as he looked down at his defiant wife, the early playfulness now very much gone, replaced by seriousness. Her eyes were alight with accusation. He felt his chest tighten again and his breathing labour. His eyes narrowed and he took a deep breath, desperately telling the anger threatening to rise to the surface that she was not in her senses-that it was the bhaang talking...
"Khus-"
"Suna aapne? I said I. HATE. YOU Laad Governor!"
Each word took a punch at him as he stood watching her, dumb founded. His jaw clenched, his hands balling into fists as he tried to keep a hold, repeatedly telling himself she was vulnerable. Inevitably however, he felt a surge of emotion engulf him, threatening to drown him in all his confusion. Was this what she really thought of him? She hated him? It stung all the more for he knew it to be the truth.
Sighing, he said through gritted teeth, "I already know that Khushi. Come on get off the floor already. You're getting your clothes dirty."
He reached out towards her, arms stretched out ready to pick her up, envelope her in his arms but she instinctively pulled her arms behind her back. He glared at her stunned, finding himself more repugnant than she did right now.
"NO!" Khushi pouted. Arnav cursed himself, despising himself with an even greater fervour. Had he actually thought she looked cute? Deciding to ignore her premature outburst, he stepped towards her, intending to carry out the task.
"No! Paas mat aaye! Door raheye humse!" she pointed a finger at him, in a pathetic attempt to threaten him.
Arnav smiled, his previous anger dissolving. Strangely, with each jibing word, he seemed to be softening. He was startled to find her weirdly appear ever sweeter... ever more angelic as the belated breeze finally graced them with its presence, causing her hair to gently sway with its course. He took another step towards his goal.
"Bas! Don't even think about coming any nearer YOU GOT THAT? Stay right where you are Laad Governor!" Her voice was shaking with anger as she carried on her protestations, her words slurring.
That was all the encouragement he needed as he finally bridged the distance to his goal, scooping her up and then laying her back down so her two feet touched the ground. They stood by the poolside staring at each other for a few minutes, his arms refusing to release her lest she run away...lest this one moment where they could forget everything and just be Arnav and Khushi fade away...
"I told you you'll get dirty. Now you've gone and got dirt on your cheek." He smiled his most heart-warming smile, while reaching out to rub the dirt off that had managed to plaster itself on her cheek due to her hand grazing it as she was propelled upwards.
Arnav was taken aback when he witnessed the cloud of tears forming in her eyes.
"W-wha-?"
He was interrupted by the impact on his chest as his wife thudded him in the chest.
"I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!"
That was it! Enough was enough! The girl had long since overstepped the boundaries. Arnav tensed, preparing himself for the battle.
"Khushi shut up!"
"Aap shut up! Always telling me to do this, do that! What do you think of yourself? Laad Governor kayke!"
Arnav grimaced. That damn spunk was going to drive him insane...
"Khushi listen-"
"No you listen. Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada ne bohot sunliye! Aap ki baari hai! Its your turn to listen and take these words in-I hate you with all my heart. For what you do to me...for the way you confuse me...for the way my heart beats incomprehensibly fast around you. Nothing makes sense! And that's why I hate you! Got it?" she whined in exasperation.
Arnav stood speechless as he watched his wife's eyes slowly become heavy and her body sway.
"Whenever I come close to you why is it that my heart beats fast?"
Arnav reached forward to catch his wife's collapsing form in his arms. Swooping her up in his embrace, he carried her fragile form to the lounger by the poolside, gently placing her down on the recliner as if she were a glass object.
He kneeled down beside his wife's unconscious form, taking her hand in his own and placing it on his chest where he imagined his "dil" to be. He blinked as unshed tears stung his eyes. His mouth was dry and his brain was having a hard time formulating thought, let alone actual speech.
Could he really believe her? Was it all a dream?
"Kyunki mere paas ate hi tumari dil ki dhadkane meri dil ki dhadkano se mil jaati hai."
