Today's episode while definitely better in content than yesterday's hamming, left a poor taste in my mouth. Solely for one factor : the women in the Gupta Household who khushi claims as her family !

Khushi is one who has given her heart and soul for this family. She works for them tirelessly, at odd hours, in difficult situations all so that her mother, aunt and sister aren't left in the lurch or faced with any discomfort.

She accepts the family as her own, and goes from pole to post for them. However today was a classic example of her receiving the short end of the stick.

I don't think anyone approved the way khushi was pushed into the marriage with shyam on her mother's and bua's insistence on some ludicrous claim that the father had asked for it. She was guilt tripped into it royally with them reminding her every step of the way that her father's health depended on this. Not one attempt was made into doing any form of a background check on shyam or find out about his family or where he goes during the day/night while masquerading as a PG (who never stays there).

A stark difference was seen when the well known Raizadas came to ask for Payal's hand. They actually thought about it, they were worried about her well being despite the fact that Khushi works with the Raizadas, knew them pretty well and vouched for the match personally. All the doubt and the suspicion that arose then regarding payal's future with the RM clan, not once ounce of it stemmed for Khushi.

BUA : major, major disappointement with bua (I know some of you may have appreciated her today, but I don't think her character can ever be redeemed). For a woman, who yelled at the Raizadas when mami made a snide remark at payal, upon knowing that the man she thrust upon khushi is a lying, two faced, adulterer didn't let out a peep. Infact they let him go on with his crazy half baked explanations and didn't contest at all ! do you not remember that this very man gave you his kundali, he pushed for an engagement, spoke about a wedding !!! did these instances just evaporate out of your mind ? ya, she did encourage kkg to speak the truth. But this lukewarm response is totally not the expected thing when someone is out to ruin your child's life

The MOTHER : if bua disappointed me, this one wanted me to throw something at the screen. You are worried that payal's life will be jeopardy. You are forcing again the girl whose life you almost threw into flames to lie...okay u want to save payal's happiness. But doesn't kkg matter to you ? not one part of you went to hug her for this absolute blow, nor did you run your hand over her head to pacify her, nor did you go ask her if she was alright. Any of this!!!!! Instead you go on a full blown rant and almost shoving it in her face 'just short of saying it 'that payal's wedding will be called off again cos of *fill in the blanks*'.yes'lovely way to treat your daughter. Woman'go learn from your husband'he has cotton in his mouth not in his brains !!

THIS LADY MADE FEEL LIKE THROWING A HAMMER ON HER SERIOUSLY HUH I JUST HATE AND CAN'T STAND ANY MORE... WHAT KIND OF MORAL VALUES DOES SHE HAVE AND FROM WHICH PLANET DOES SHE EXIST I GUESS THE ALIEN PLANET... SICK LADY NOT AT ALL HAS A MOTHER CARING... Payal : I will score her little over these two women, for showing up finally that shes not abla naari and by not keeping mum *reference : khushis engagement where she sensed something was off, said it to kkg to'but did nothing to oppose it* However I wonder, how is her relationship with akash ? is it really love ? it seems like akash is in love and shes getting into an arranged setup. Cos any other person, would have called her fianc up to find a way to best tackle such a delicate situation in their family. While she did tell khushi that she doesn't blame her, not now nor ever , she didn't offer to go to RM either to be the support that khushi would so obviously need in such a situation.

WHAT AN EMOTIONAL SISTER OH GOD...

The inherent weak nature of these women is so jarring and glaringly a sore point. I dont understand what the CVs want to show with this. Is it that they;ve lived in a small town always and hence dont have the confidence to speak up ? that doesnt cut it ! there has to be some underlying reason for why this is portrayed like this !!!

Okay , im done with my rant for the day, but the poor character sketch for these characters is just infuriating me and it's a blip in the story otherwise. Why are all the women save Khushi so weirdly scripted ! ok scratch maami from that list, shes atleast consistently rude and mean !!

The only positive female character for the day was Lavanya. Loved her last line and her tone when she says "ASR, its Lavanya". Firm, but she knows its at an end. Shes got the message clear that he doesn't belong to her, and never did. I just hope she goes on to be Khushi's friend and not a window vamp ! khushi has no family she can count on, in times of distress she can do with all the friends she has.

As for arnav's concern : no words can describe it, that will have to be a different post !!

I think he hid his Konar notes somewhere in the Nether Region of his Physiques.. I heard he is a Phamous Engineer now!

As for the Guptas.. I don't know why Bua has the "upper HAND" in the phamily .. that role should belong to our SHASHI who although not directly related to Khushi is a better dad than Garima is a mom..

But You "have to hand it" to the CVs..

I theenk, they listened to our 2.5li+2.5li protests and are moving the storyline in a direction where its Shashi who will vent his monGoosa over the snake..

In India. there are many girls who are forced into marriage because of their parents or family. It did not surprise me that khushi was forced to this engagement with Shyam. Yes, Buaji used all the tools she had to convince khushi to get married to Shyam. From babuji's health to pointing out she is adopted. Is it wrong? Yes, very much. Does it happen in reality? Yes, it does.
As for the background check on Shyam, Buaji thought she knew everything about Shyam. He lives with her so I am thinking she would have assumed Khushi would live with her after marriage. Shyam is a lawyer and from Buaji's point of view well settled. Also, Buaji considers khusi as immatured (although we know better) so khushi saying 'no' did not matter as much. I am also thinking that the women in gupta's family do not have outside world view to think of a background check. The last point for pushing khushi for this marriage is that Buaji and Kushi's mom consider Shyam as this really sweet responsible guy ( remember him helping them with household work like making tea, cooking ...) and he also likes Khushi. Buaji started initiating this proposel only after seeing Shyam's interest. Through out his stay with Gupta's, Shyam hasn't given a reason for them to doubt him. Shyam's strength is understanding people's personality and working based off of that. Any girl would be smitten with Shyam just because he is a sweet talker. He knows the right thing to say at the right time and do the right thing. Hell...he convinced nani to allow La to stay in Raizada's house. Although Buaji's actions were wrong, her intentions were good. So, give her points for that.

As for worrying about Payal's inlaws, you have to remember mami openly showed her frustration with this proposal. You can feel the hatred just by listening to her. This would cause concern for anyone. This was not about the background check...this concern is purely about mamji. Irrespective of whether this is for payal or khushi, i believe Gupta's would have reacted in the same way when it comes to mamiji. They did not do a background check on Akash, they were just worried about mami.

BUA : I am actually okay with Bua. I believe she would have done the same if Shyam had shown interest in Payal. She would have taken the proposal forward with payal too without any background checks. She cares for Khushi as much as she cares for payal. Yes, she should have reacted strongly but when you are betrayed by a person you trust, it very hard to accept it and react in the right way in that instance. I will give her sometime to apologize to khushi. I think she will. I think in Gupta's family, buaji is strongly affected by Shyam's betrayal. She thought khushi will be happy with Shyam. That's why i say her intentions are good although her actions were wrong. As for Buaji reacting to mami's snide remarks, she expected mami to make snide remarks and was prepared for it.

The MOTHER : Ah... the mother... rather the stepmother. I tried to look at it from her point of view so i can justify her actions. but I cannot think of anything. As you have pointed out, she did not even think of khushi in all this... If I have to rate her character, I would place her one step below Shyam. The reason for that, Shyam cannot break Kushi's spirit even with his pyschopathic traits. But Garima can.

Payal : I have respect for payal's character. I think Payal is strong enough for Khushi to lean on if Khushi needs to. As much as Khushi, Payal is also in bad place with this revelation. In fact, its worse for her. First her wedding got cancelled couple of hours before the ceremony. Now finally, after all these months, when she is ready for a happy ending with the handsome akash, its blown into pieces. It would break anyone's confidence. Even with this, instead of crying and self pity, she is focusing on Khushi and giving her the support that khushi needs. Payal might not have ideas on how to delicately handle her inlaws but she definitely knows what is right and wrong. Very hard to be there and go thru what payal is going thru. Also comparing Payal with khushi is not right. Khushi is strongest character in IPKKND.
