Today's episode while definitely better in content than yesterday's hamming, left a poor taste in my mouth. Solely for one factor : the women in the Gupta Household who khushi claims as her family !
Khushi is one who has given her heart and soul for this family. She works for them tirelessly, at odd hours, in difficult situations all so that her mother, aunt and sister aren't left in the lurch or faced with any discomfort.
She accepts the family as her own, and goes from pole to post for them. However today was a classic example of her receiving the short end of the stick.
I don't think anyone approved the way khushi was pushed into the marriage with shyam on her mother's and bua's insistence on some ludicrous claim that the father had asked for it. She was guilt tripped into it royally with them reminding her every step of the way that her father's health depended on this. Not one attempt was made into doing any form of a background check on shyam or find out about his family or where he goes during the day/night while masquerading as a PG (who never stays there).
A stark difference was seen when the well known Raizadas came to ask for Payal's hand. They actually thought about it, they were worried about her well being despite the fact that Khushi works with the Raizadas, knew them pretty well and vouched for the match personally. All the doubt and the suspicion that arose then regarding payal's future with the RM clan, not once ounce of it stemmed for Khushi.
BUA : major, major disappointement with bua (I know some of you may have appreciated her today, but I don't think her character can ever be redeemed). For a woman, who yelled at the Raizadas when mami made a snide remark at payal, upon knowing that the man she thrust upon khushi is a lying, two faced, adulterer didn't let out a peep. Infact they let him go on with his crazy half baked explanations and didn't contest at all ! do you not remember that this very man gave you his kundali, he pushed for an engagement, spoke about a wedding !!! did these instances just evaporate out of your mind ? ya, she did encourage kkg to speak the truth. But this lukewarm response is totally not the expected thing when someone is out to ruin your child's life
The MOTHER : if bua disappointed me, this one wanted me to throw something at the screen. You are worried that payal's life will be jeopardy. You are forcing again the girl whose life you almost threw into flames to lie...okay u want to save payal's happiness. But doesn't kkg matter to you ? not one part of you went to hug her for this absolute blow, nor did you run your hand over her head to pacify her, nor did you go ask her if she was alright. Any of this!!!!! Instead you go on a full blown rant and almost shoving it in her face 'just short of saying it 'that payal's wedding will be called off again cos of *fill in the blanks*'.yes'lovely way to treat your daughter. Woman'go learn from your husband'he has cotton in his mouth not in his brains !!
Payal : I will score her little over these two women, for showing up finally that shes not abla naari and by not keeping mum *reference : khushis engagement where she sensed something was off, said it to kkg to'but did nothing to oppose it* However I wonder, how is her relationship with akash ? is it really love ? it seems like akash is in love and shes getting into an arranged setup. Cos any other person, would have called her fianc up to find a way to best tackle such a delicate situation in their family. While she did tell khushi that she doesn't blame her, not now nor ever , she didn't offer to go to RM either to be the support that khushi would so obviously need in such a situation.
The inherent weak nature of these women is so jarring and glaringly a sore point. I dont understand what the CVs want to show with this. Is it that they;ve lived in a small town always and hence dont have the confidence to speak up ? that doesnt cut it ! there has to be some underlying reason for why this is portrayed like this !!!
Okay , im done with my rant for the day, but the poor character sketch for these characters is just infuriating me and it's a blip in the story otherwise. Why are all the women save Khushi so weirdly scripted ! ok scratch maami from that list, shes atleast consistently rude and mean !!
The only positive female character for the day was Lavanya. Loved her last line and her tone when she says "ASR, its Lavanya". Firm, but she knows its at an end. Shes got the message clear that he doesn't belong to her, and never did. I just hope she goes on to be Khushi's friend and not a window vamp ! khushi has no family she can count on, in times of distress she can do with all the friends she has.
