FF:'Far or near' RaYa|pg41 chp17 27th April !

This is my first FF ever in this forum. I wanted to take up a new plot but the characters would remain the same. You would see how they develop as the story proceeds =]

I sure do hope you all like this. And also tell me if I should continue this or not!

Prologue

She was gone before he could say sorry. She was out of his life, disappearing into the darkness before he could hold her hand once again, reassuring her that it won't happen again.

What he could feel now was nothing but despair, the longing she had left him with. He couldn't blame her, he just couldn't. But he couldn't help but feel angry and frustrated over not being given a chance. Just this once, had she given him a chance their lives wouldn't have taken this agonizing turn.

Ram was beginning to feel betrayed the next moment. Feelings that crept were ripping his heart out. Anguish, confusion and bitterness were making him lose his sanity.

Why had she left him for just breaking a promise of meeting her for a cup of coffee! It did not make sense to him. After all he had broken a lot of these promises in the past and never had she been angry. On the contrary, she understood that he was busy handling his father's business after his demise. She always did. Then why today? Why now?

Had she just needed a reason to walk out of his life? Was she tired of him? And then the worst fear hit upon him that instant. Did she not love him anymore? Of course she does and she will always. He tried re-assuring himself this time. But he was failing badly.

He needed to find her. But all she left was a note saying "goodbye"-that too in neatly written in bold letters. She had no family that he knew of. Even though he was transparent about his family and background, never once had Priya told him about her family. She had always changed the topic whenever he tried to ask her anything.

He was lost now! Yet he needed answers. He needed them badly. He was ready to hunt them down.

The emptiness of the apartment was getting to him. The air carrying her scent and the apartment where she lived now was empty, abandoned, just like him.

"Priya! I will find you where ever you are. May it take a day, month, year, lifetime or a thousand of those I will find you! And that day you will have to answer my questions willingly or otherwise."

His voice was ruthless and stern. For a moment it was evident in his eyes he wanted more than just answers from her. He wanted to once again hold her in his arms, tell her he loved her and hear her reciprocating those feelings. The next second his eyes changed their course, only anger was seen now.

Chapter 1

~ Two years later ~

"Changes are often sudden, inevitable and unpleasant. But I think you can survive through it and if you can't, maybe you should hand over your resignation Mr. Mehta"

Rams words were an ultimatum for all. Nobody dared to interfere in his work, his ways and most importantly his decisions. No matter how they were, everybody had to adapt to them, survive through them, but never question them as Mr. Mehta had done.

"A grave mistake you did out there. Let me tell you very clearly that you are not supposed to utter a word unless and until Ram Sir asks you to." A colleague whispered to Mr. Mehta as soon as Ram went into his cabin fuming.

"I was never informed that he was like this. In fact, my father had praised him so much that I thought..." His voice trailed off as the colleague interrupted him.

"Your father worked here 2 years back. Sir wasn't like this back then, but now you can see he has evolved into this being we see now." He sighed. "We know he is not this ruthless at heart. He has changed for better or for worse..."

Ram was always busy either dealing with business affairs or those at his house. Being a father for his step sisters Natasha and Ishika while being the best buddy for Sid and Rishub, he was completely engrossed within his relations. He had neglected his own life as he believed now that he has nothing more apart from his family and his two best friends- Vikram and Neha.

Vikram and Neha were both happily married and blessed with three beautiful and naughty children. Vikram was a partner in his business as well. He could trust him beyond anyone and anything. These two were the only people who would remind him that he also had a life beyond his family and business. He liked them being around, pushing him through his own turmoil's he went through constantly.

Ram was working on his laptop when Vikram entered with an expression which clearly said- "You need not shout at people then and now". But, before Vikram could say anything, Ram tried diverting him with his pretty talks.

"Hey! How is Neha? Children must be fine too. I was thinking of going to your house to meet them. It would be so nice to play with your so well behaved, loving children"

Vikram just raised his eyebrow. It was obvious he was faking it.

"Mr. Mehta did a mistake so I had to let him know of it. It was just that." Ram defended himself with all valid reasons he could see at that moment.

"You could have said that in a low, kinder manner too you know. Just try to maintain a good relationship with your staff like your family Ram." Vikram knew more than anyone, his changed behavior towards people. And he managed to keep him on the right track most of the times.

"We shouldn't let people captivate us so easily Vikram. After all what is left when they leave?" Vikram knew whom Ram was referring to.

"Everybody is not Priya, Ram..."

Priya... Her name itself pleased his senses. Her smile was vibrant and imprinted in his mind, so serene her presence. Her eyes spoke volumes, most of which mysterious and beguiling him. Attracting him and he could not stop back then and now even he is unable to stop those memories flushing in.

Ram just smirked. He had tried every mean to find her and he was still trying, every day, every minute. "Damn! Why do I love her?" His thoughts were again crossing the boundary and he needed to stop.

Vikram sensed the disturbance coming across Ram's face and tried changing the topic at once.

"You are turning out to be the 21^st century Devdas now. The only difference is he drank alcohol and you eat Aloo Parathas" A smile gave birth on his face for a brief moment.

Vikram knew he was hanging just by Priya's memories; after all he had been filled with ecstasy those days. Those memories were haunting him. Where are you Priya? Your Ram is withering away...
