She is quick to defend her parents and deflects all accusations of poor parenting for Siddharth's condition. "His schizophrenia and ultimate suicide had nothing to do with bad parenting! He committed suicide in a moment of clarity. Everything was planned meticulously."
Siddharth perhaps, was also her security and anchor, the one constant factor in her life till his death. "He was a very centred and connected person. He was so grounded to reality and had a much better sense of humour than even me!" she adds, in a lighter vein.
In a trice, she bursts into peals of laughter while reminiscing, how as kids, one day Siddharth was upset, and seeing him in that state, mom Protima got more upset. "What was funny was that by the end of it, Siddharth forgot why he was upset and was greatly agitated as he saw that mom was upset! But that was him - always putting other people ahead of him," she sighs.
