Just a few thoughts I felt like sharing...
When Arnav caught hold of Khushi by her arms near the pool and glowered at her, what did he see in her eyes?
Fear? I think not. The time when she was terrified of him is long gone.
Pain? Yes. I think. More emotional than physical cos she misses him.
Questions? Yes. 1) Why are u angry with me when I have gone along with ur plan?
2) Why are u shouting at ur family members?
3) Why aren't u happy?
Khushi knows a lot of truths about Arnav that no one else does.
1) He does not love Lavanya.
2) He brought Lavanya back cos Khushi forced him to.
3) He does not believe in marriage, n no one, absolutely no one in his family can make him change his mind. Not tears, not threats, not emotional blackmail...His mind is made.
She also knows another damaging fact. That he announced his engagement to Lavanya to push Khushi away. Not because he cares for La or intends to marry her. It was an impulsive decision made to get rid of Khushi. In Khushi's mind, Arnav wishes to push her away cos he hates her...middle class...aukat...no money...lil education...doesn't want to look at her face etc. Arnav has been nothing if not vocal about his hatred for her. So she thinks that the poolside kissa n almost kiss are actions uncharacteristic of Arnav n regretted as soon as done. Even the payal has been lumped along with this n dumped in her mental dustbin. Koi matlab nahin...koi ehmiyat nahin...have been drilled into her by the master player. She has been a most willing pupil n has believed him. She has always believed him...cos he does not lie or cheat...he does not soften his words or his stance for anybody or anything...and he does not waste his time on making anyone feel better. No flattering...no tactful dealings...no bending the truth unlike Shyam. If he is angry the whole world knows abt it n pays for it. So when he denies their bond, she accepts it. It never strikes her that he does not mean it. She thinks that the fault lies in her perception of the romantic moments.
So she has accepted his decision to marry La. She has internalised the painful thought that even though her heart longs for Arnav, he does not want her or her love. She is unhappy, very unhappy, but at peace.That's why she can't understand why he is angry with her, why he isn't happy when everything has gone his way, why some demon is gnawing at him from the inside...She looks sorry for him.
