"Kahan gayi yeh Khushi. Aise toh sab jage dikhti hain, and today I cant seem to find her anywhere."
Just then Arnav froze. He felt a breeze, and he knew she was there. Heturned around to see Khushi giving Jai Prakash something to take to the kitchen.
"Finally, here's my chance'" Arnav started walking towards her.
She saw him coming and turned to walk the other way.
"Khushi!... uh ek minute Khushi!"
She stopped and looked at him. Then not making eye contact said, "Ji, kahiye"
"uh. Woh. Subah... maine... Mujhe... "Arnav stammered.
Khushi stared at him, confused. ASR never stammers, and certainly not when talking to her...What was he trying to say?
"uh woh mera matlab hain, tumhare maa...papa... maine di ki baatein sunli... Woh..."
He had been planning this since he found out the truth --- how he would apologize, he knew he owed it to her ---- but right now, standing in front of her he blanked. He didn't know how to say it.
Seeing him stutter, Khushi understood. "accha, toh finally iss laad governor ko uski galti ka ehsaas ho gaya hain," she mumbled. "par itni aasaani se nahi jaane denge... thodi mehnat toh karni padegi."
"Kya? What did you say?" Arnav thought he had heard something about a "laad governor."
"...uh kuch nahi, aap humse kuch kehre the?"
"Haan woh ---"
"KHUSHI JI!!! Khushi ji idhar aayiye ek minute." Khushi turned to see Anjali ji calling.
"Hum abhi aate hain" She yelled in reply. She turned to look back at Arnav, and then hurried towards the kitchen to find Anjali di.

Yeh ladki bhi na. subah se kaam mein lagi hain. I don't see her anywhere! on the one day, I actually need to talk to her.
Arnav had been running (okay, walking) around the house in circles all day (basically like a crazy person đ) long trying to get a moment alone with Khushi. But nope. Bechaare ki kismat hi saath nahi de rahi thi đ˛
Kabhi, Nani needed Khushi to get the puja ka samaan or to babysit Lakshmi toh kabhie Di needed her to check all the ingredients for lunch. Phir she had to get Lavanya dressed, and make sure "all of Mamiji's clotheswa going to the dhobi for ironing." Akaash couldn't find his car keys, and of course Khushi Kumari Gupta just HAD to come to the rescue. By the time all this was taken care of, it was time to teach Lavanya how to sew, and she had just finished with that when Jai Prakash came looking for Khushi ji "to tell him what to get from the market." All afternoon one after the other, Khushi was occupied - making Chai, finding people's missing things, answering their questions, taking care of everyone's every need.
Arnav couldn't believe it. It was amazing how quickly everyone in the house had come to depend on her. It was as though all of a sudden no one could function without Khushi, nothing was said that didn't in some way concern her. She fit in flawlessly. Especially with Anjali di and Nani. Arnav could see how effortlessly and automatically they had accepted Khushi as a regular part of their lives. She was basically part of the family. For some reason, that thought made Arnav feel warm inside. Khushi. A part of the family. His family.
No Arnav. What are you saying? Khushi just works here. Nothing else. Aur waise bhi, tumhe kya farak padta hain usse. You don't even like her. Now stop wasting time, and go find her.

Khushi had been avoiding Arnav on purpose. busying herself with work here and there. Let him work a bit, she thought. Khushi had been so preoccupied (as usual) that she hadn't seen where she was going. She also hadn't seen Anjali ji coming from the kitchen with the big bowl in her hands. and BANG. Khushi was drenched with kheer. Hey devi maiyya. Hum aaj nahaa chuke hain. Pakka! Phir bhi kheer se nehlaadiya?
"Arre Khushi ji! Yeh kya hogaya?! Woh galti hogayi. Humne dekha hi nahin. Aur kheer gir gayi. Aapke toh saare kapre bhi gande ho gaye. Hume maaf kardijiye."
"Nahin nahin Anjali ji. Hume bhi dekhna chahiye tha."
"Still Khushi ji, I'm really so sorry. Pata nahi kaise haath se chootgaya."
Just then Khushi saw ASR approaching. She smiled to herself (very mischieviously). Chal Khushi, thoda mazaa lete hain. đ
"Haan waise Anjali ji. Sayi keh rahi hain aap. Insaan ko apni galti hamesha maan leni chahiye. Dekhiye na, aap kitni acchi hain. Itni choti galti ke liye bhi maafi maang rahe ho. Waise humari Amma kehti hain, anjaane mein ki vi cheez ke liye maafi ki koi zaroorat nahin hoti hain."
"Accha? Par phir bhi hume maafi maang ne ka toh haq hai na Khushi ji?" Anjali said, now smiling.
"Woh hi toh. Ek aap ho, jo kitni aasaani se apni galti maan rahi ho. Aur ek woh insaan hota hai jo jaan boonch ke galti kare. Jaan boonch ke kisika dil dukhaaye. Aur phir bhi apni galti maante nahi hain. Humari Amma hain na, woh kehti hain ki jo insaan apni galti nahi maan sakta hain... woh..." Khushi pauses and then goes closer to Anjali ji, whispering as if telling her an exclusive secret (even though she whispers loud enough for Arnav to hear of course) ...woh... darpoke... hota hain. Darpoke. "
Anjali is amused now.
Khushi continues, "sahi hi toh hain. Aapko pata bhi hain, there are people in this world **cough** **cough** As Khushi looks at Arnav. There are people in this world, that --- Khushi acts, in a super nautanki style, as though she is appalled đ˛---- that don't even know how to say sorry. poor folks. kaisi bemaari hain. Can you imagine?!? Sorry --- Sorry tak nahin keh sakta...it's tragic, really Waise bhi, jaise hum -----matlab humari amma ----- kehti hain, it takes a real man to apologize. Sirf ek asli marad apni galti maan sakta hain. Aur phir jaa ke usko sudhaar sakta hain. Yeh "sorry" kehna, har kisi ki bas ki baat nahi hain. It takes courage, strength, confidence, charm. Ab aap hi dekhiye, sab koi Salman Khan ji ke tarah toh nahi ho sakte hain na- bahadur, dil ke saaf, kaam ke pakke. Sab ke paas kahaan hota hain. Koi koi log, bechaare, bachpan se hi kamzor hote hain. You know, dil ki bemaari, hum hain bechaari types. Par kehte hain na, kamzor baccho ka haath kabhi nahi chod na chahiye. So what can we do?... we have to be patient with them na, nahi toh bechaare, kya hoga unka?
Khushi looks over at Arnav, đa small smile playing across her face. He looks up, and she quickly turns away.
"Aur toh aur Anjali ji, hum toh kehte hain. Ki galti bhi na naap tol ke karni chahiye, aur maafi bhi naap ke maangni chahiye. Ab you can't move a mountain with a shovel, now can you? Humara matlab hain, choti galtiyan ke liye toh "I'm sorry" chal jaata hain. Par, jitni badi galti, utni badi maafi bhi toh banthi hain. You know, humne sunaa hain. Koi log badi badi galtiyaan, baar baar karte hain. Un bechaaro ke liye toh badi maafi bhi kam hogi. I mean, woh badi, filmy types, maafi. Par kya kare, yahaan toh "I'm sorry" bhi moon se nahin nikalta hain, filmy maafi toh bahut door ki baat hain." đ
"Ji Khushi ji? Yahaan...yahaan kaun?" Anjali was starting to become very confused. As if she missed something.
"uh.. woh...Kuch nahin Anjali ji. Hum to aise hi kuch bhi bolte rehte hain. Woh koi baat nahi, humne maaf kar diya. Now I should go wash this."
"Okay haan, jaldi jaao." Khushi turned towards the bathroom. "Ek minute Khushi ji, woh, aapki---nahin aapki "Amma" ki baatein bhi bahut acchi hain." Anjali said with a smirk.

Samaj thi kya hain apne aap ko? Bechara? Aur main? Kya kaha tha? Only a real man can apologize? Aur kya... ki main, Arnav Singh Raizada, "sorry" nahi bol sakta? Just wait Khushi Kumari Gupta. ASR ko challenge kar rahi ho. Main dikhaata hoon tumhe, ki Arnav Singh Raizada maafi kaise maang tha hain.
