There are two parts to this situation."Song VS Janta". Song was excellent and Nihira performed it to the greatest. No question about it. Now comes 2nd part which is performing in contest where mass is not musically learned so it is like reading "Bhagawat in front of bulls". Aawaam either did not know the song or did not have the understanding about the complexity of this song. ID should have never given her this song to perform in front of general public knowing the fact that it may be a loss cause. If she were to perform the same song in front of respectablePT. Jasrajji, Shiv-Hariji, or some judges she would sitll be in.

Niraj you are mixing two issues. Excellent song VS Average public. It is like guy who works on glass has to parakh real diamond. What the hell is he going to know about 4Cs.

Again well said Varshaji. We have been trying to say this all along and I do not wish to deviate from my stance that ID is responsible for Nihira's exit. Right from the point when he started cheering other contestants rather openly, to criticizing Nihira for her choice of statement on the punjabi song, to coming and kissing Himani for having sung Chittiye flawlessly and to drilling the final nail on the coffin - the selection of one of the most difficult composition "Saathi Re" for Nihira at such a crucial stage. Nihira indeed did justice to it, but the song unfortunatley has no mass appeal. What was he trying to ensure, that Nihira leaves and paves the road to victory for Himani.

In one of my other post I had also remarked that Nihira had been looking quiet pale and drawn in the past few galas, which has inadvertently affected her performance and energy level. Comeon if your own mentor has been going ga ga over some other contestant, how would you feel?? The harm done cannot be undone, and as I said once before, no point crying over spilt milk after spilling it urself. He had an uncrowned queen and he has attempted to gift the crown with his own hands to her arch rival. I find nothing great in this gesture of ID.

Have to disagree a little bit on the mentor topic a little bit
There were two goals that these mentors had
1. Win the contest by any and all means(whether the world likes it or not, you know where I am going here)
2. Mentor the candidates in such a way that the positives of their talent are highlighted

He knew going into battle with only #2 was not gonna get Nihira the win. But he stuck with his principles

Every song that Nihira has sung has been in her capabilities, none of the songs went out and showed any of her negatives, She hit a Grand slam every at bat. But on the other hand he knew Nihira was coming out second to last in previous rounds and he did not account for that in his song selection to take care of #1. And you have to respect ID for not selling out on #1

Compare this with Vineet/HR(I know you guys would hate me to bring up this comparision, but hold on)
Prior to the round of Kapildev, Vineet had been second to last, for the first time, what does HR do? he goes to the home turf of Vineet, Sonu Nigam song, a very popular, emotional song for a emotional judge and junta. His Vote bank swings like +15% even though he misses notes

Both of them are doing what they can to help win their contestants without curbing their natural selfs. One is seen as a idealist and another is seen as a attention craved celebrity.

Both of them(actually all 4 of them) basically going to their own acceptable boundaries of winning.

And we have to respect them for that

Just my opinion you can have yours

😛 Very good lines for ID.I love him a lot, even before I loved his music the most.I hear his songs hundred times,he does a gr8 mix of gujrati, western, afgani, classical, with his creativity. It's just gr8.He is the best in mentors.Nihira and debojit were not so good initially but he selected wonderful songs and made them to work hard.He always appreciated others also by giving them marks that they deserve, but others?debojit got 6,7,9 from the mentors, was the qawali so bad,he definitely did some mistakes, but 6,i think they deliberately gave that so that audience will vote less for debu, don't u?Jatinji gave 9 but AS 6,HR-7.

In retrospect when I look at all mentors ID appears to be the one who comes close to being called mentor, other than JL.
A mentor must be able to exploit the strength of his shishyas, he must be able to showcase their talent in a great way, he should be blunt in criticism when shishyas are losing focus & above all he should be unbiased towards all.
IMHO ID appears to have passed on many fronts.
He is the one who dared with extremely tough compostion for Nihira which resulted in her elimination but at the same time, he succeeded in showcasing her talent in a big way.
Similarly he is the only one to have chosen tough abstract compositions like: O babua ye mahua , Daiiya re for Twinkle, E zindagi for Debo.
I remember when Ashaji heard about this song ( Daiyaa Re, Carvaan) she told Pancham: ye to muhskil hai, mere range me aayega…?but Pancham cajoled & pushed Ahsaji into this masterpiece.
This is what is expected from a mentor.
Now Im looking forward to this fusion of 2 Qawaali by Debo, which seemed to have rocked the nation, why these ideas of improvising songs don't occur to any other mentor to bring out the best from their chela…?? To do this one needs wisdom, musical intell. & courage which ID has.
He is the one who scolded Twinkle when she was losing focus, he has whole heartedly supported other shishyas who were deserving like Sharib.
Even if he is coming back, by walking out of show he gave a blow to Gajji & organisers, he gave them a piece of his mind…who took every thing for granted.
Bravo.....ID saheb, in this testing time you have the guts to be different.

Winning by pulling another's leg or by begging, looting,or by politics is not winning,if they r really talented they should give thier best performance and work hard,be dedicated.winning by wrong ways does'nt last long, they'll win the competition but be behind always in real life in future.

I would just like to add my $0.02 here...

People were talking about ID only supporting Himani in the previous episode. Today in the recap section, they showed that ID did walk across to Nihira and then blessed her too after her song.
Why should ID be to blame if Gadhendra Singh ji (as an editor) only shows what he feels will sway public's opinion.

Dear Puneet/rubybindas/ others who blessed this post

It is heartening to observe diff views, Im also of firm opinion that a great presentation of singing ability on a national paltform is much better than a title for a month or a flat......I always think ID is a ace music director & comes close to being called mentor, Im not saying that he is perfect mentor.
