In retrospect when I look at all mentors ID appears to be the one who comes close to being called mentor, other than JL.
A mentor must be able to exploit the strength of his shishyas, he must be able to showcase their talent in a great way, he should be blunt in criticism when shishyas are losing focus & above all he should be unbiased towards all.
IMHO ID appears to have passed on many fronts.
He is the one who dared with extremely tough compostion for Nihira which resulted in her elimination but at the same time, he succeeded in showcasing her talent in a big way.
Similarly he is the only one to have chosen tough abstract compositions like: O babua ye mahua , Daiiya re for Twinkle, E zindagi for Debo.
I remember when Ashaji heard about this song ( Daiyaa Re, Carvaan) she told Pancham: ye to muhskil hai, mere range me aayega…?but Pancham cajoled & pushed Ahsaji into this masterpiece.
This is what is expected from a mentor.
Now Im looking forward to this fusion of 2 Qawaali by Debo, which seemed to have rocked the nation, why these ideas of improvising songs don't occur to any other mentor to bring out the best from their chela…?? To do this one needs wisdom, musical intell. & courage which ID has.
He is the one who scolded Twinkle when she was losing focus, he has whole heartedly supported other shishyas who were deserving like Sharib.
Even if he is coming back, by walking out of show he gave a blow to Gajji & organisers, he gave them a piece of his mind…who took every thing for granted.
Bravo.....ID saheb, in this testing time you have the guts to be different.

Agree with all of your points, N Sinha.

IMO, an ideal mentor is like a parent. Scolds when the child does wrong, but doesn't give false praises. False praises spoil the child and affect them in their development as adults.

The same thing applies here.

Ismail is a very hot-tempered and emotional man, but I dont think he is a fake drame-baaz.

I feel he has come back only for Debojit. He may have lost his temper initially, but he must have thought things through.

Ismailji is too good to be true as compares the other two. He comes across as a very idealistic person!! Nothing bad, but when you are faced with nuts like Hr, 😡 you tend to lag way behind. His music too is very uncompromising, hence fantastic. 👏 All the things that happened in last week shows that ID is where he is bcz of how he is 😕 A notch above rest. Even his choices of songs for Nihira and Debo ,reflect thier talents and versatality. They were not necessarily popular, but varied and well meant. His praising Himani khulle-aam, just shows his confidence in Nihira. He knew she was the best, and like a genuine person he praised whoever performed best. Only two people seemed to have gained form SRGMP. And they are Nihira and ID. GS may have earned pots of money 🤢 , but these two have earned every music lover's dua and goowill. I am proud of them. 👏 👏 👏

I completely agree with u.
He is fair and honest to the core. No politics at all.
When he praises someone u know that that person must have really sung well. He has always brutually commented on Debojit, Twinkle and even on Nihira (just once). He ahs open heartedly praised Himani and Vineet above his own students when they deserved it.
He is def. the best mentor.

wow music pulse very well said.....
ID actually has worked hard to reach here...he was violinist in JL's orchestra for 9 yrs. HIs father was a noted saxaphone player & a violinist.
he has earned fame for himself....too bad he had to face a padosi who doesn't know m of music but knows all alphabets of politics.

Yes, ID has struggled and come up the hard way. That is the reason he identifies with all these contestants. His giving them tips, shows he cares and want them to do well. His reaction on Sharib's elimination was heart touching. He had said earlier, he could'nt do a lot for his parents. This is what he identified with Sharib I think. In this cut throat age and industry, ID has the guts to be different.

I agree with you, I know what a teacher do things correctly, I am son of a teacher and my father never favored me over other but same time he always encouraged me. When my middle school teacher gave me low marks he went to school and get the answer book re-evaluated. I always repeated ID did the best thing with his contestants. Actually Nihira or Debu could not have better place than SRGMP to show their talent. But to show your talent you should have talent first.

Other thing when I heard ID coming back to show I got angry but once I put myself in his shoes I could understand I would be doing the same thing. He is a music director and his world is all these musical world. Rozi roti uska issi music ke through ataa hai and everybody know how difficult to survive in this bollywood world. But atleast he had shown everybody what kind of politics these people are doing.
