Am a newbie on this site so bear with me! The one thing I have in common with the rest of you is that i love this show...have watched it from the very first day of its inception.

Just wanted to put my two cents in with regards to the singers still on the show. Tell me if you agree (or not!)

GALS-
HIMANI- Great voice..rich and distinctive, makes you sit up and take notice. Sings with a maturity beyond her years. Doesn't have the greatest range, but when she sings, you know it is Himani singing and not just some ordinary singer. Would be great for playback.

NIHIRA- Obviously miles above everybody else in terms of voice quality AND training. Beautiful tone to her voice. Feels that she sometimes sacrifices emotion and feeling in favour of technique though (like the "Daffliwaale" song she sang in the LP-Bhansali show). Still, feel the emotion factor will improve with age and experience and will be great for playback.

TWINKLE- I actually like the way she sings. Its unfair that she gets more attention for her looks, but she is capable of singing a song with great verve, joy, and a whole load of "attitude". What I like the most about her is the way she finishes a song...lot of singers, evenvthe great ones, faulter on the last note..not Twinkle. I think she'd be great to sing the Sunidhi Chauhan, attitude songs...not the least becasue I am sick of Sunidhi's monopoly on every "item" song!

UJJAINI- She is alright...has a lot of potential...but is too young to be on this show right now...you can make that out from the lack of consistency in her performances. i personally dont think her "black" song was that great...the SONG is wonderful and unusual...but other singers might have sung it way better.

GUYS-
VINEET- Like Ujjaini, he too needs a couple of years of growing up to do before he is ready for playback. Sure he sings well...but his voice quality leaves a lot to be desired and isn't particularly distinctive. To me, right now he sounds like Sonu Nigam might have sonded at the age of 13......before his voice broke. If I were a music director and had a choice to use Sonu or Vineet...there is no doubt in my mind who I'd choose!

HEMCHANDRA- Great voice quality, nice range, hits the low notes well...sounds awesome when he opens his voice and sings out full throated (like his Lakshya song)...unfortunately, doesn't do that often enough. The best amongst the men for playback.

PARESH- What is he doing on this show? He would be IDEAL as a singer fronting a boyband...an indipop singer. Has the boyish looks, the performance angle down pat, and the indifferent singing voice! Cant imagine him being a playback singer for anyone.

DEBOJIT- Nice voice quality...was a better singer wheh he wasn't "performing" so much. Nothing "different" or unusual about his voice though. To me, he is someone who would be great doing stageshows, not quite playback.

RAJEEV- Terribly untrained...goes flat in 75% of his songs. Has a different texture to his voice and it can sound very pleasant...but he so needs to go back to the drawing board and start training from the very first "Sa" note!

SHARIB- Not there anymore i know, but was one of the better male singers. Great tone, classical training, and most importantly..had originality in his presentation. He is the only singer in the programme who dared to experiment with well established songs and made it work in his favour..that to me shows someone who is genuinely musical. Too bad he was under the most unpopular mentors...had to get voted out!

MY FAVOURITES (IN ORDER)- HIMANI, NIHIRA, SHARIB,TWINKLE,HEMCHANDRA.

Do forgive the length of the post...is my first time after all!

would agree with you on almost all your opinions except for your rankings. But I gues we are individuals, and we have our own favorites and not so very favorite ones.

Ujjaini, Himani, Nihira are all of the same age. They are all 17 so her being too young is not an issue. It is just that she declared that she is a good student and missing a year. I am sure all the participants are sacrificing something or the other.

Hi Akhilash,
Thanks for posting. Yeah, I ranking is definitely subjective. Would love to know how you'd rank them.

Hi San...
I didn't mean "young" in terms of age...more in terms of maturity of their voice and singing styles. There are some voices you hear and you know they are potentially very good...but they need more training or need to mature a bit more...thats the feel I get with Ujjaini's voice. Himani is the same age, but she is sounds ready, to me, to take on playback.

I really enjoyed reading your "humble opinion"…

Very refreshing to read a balanced, unbiased analysis of all the contestants… 👏

Your comments on Himani, Nihira, Hemachandra, Paresh, Sharib are quite accurate ( IMHO )

To me Nihira is in the same mold as Lataji… But however perfect she is in her singing, I too find her lacking in emotion and occasionally a bit mechanical. Sometimes, she's singing the words perfectly, but seems to be "detached" from the song…

The only other singer I would add to the list would be SWANANDA. I felt she had a very sweet and melodious voice. I would have loved to hear more of her singing… but unfortunately because of her throat problem, she was just not herself in the finals.

Hi shesthebest.
Thanks a ton for posting. Very true about Nihira. She can be pretty mechanical, just like Lataji was on occasion. As a listener, you get carried by the beauty of their voice, but sometimes, the song doesn't touch you as it might have had it been sung by a more expressive singer.

I liked Swananda singing the "Jaane kya baat hai" song...and yes, she did sound almost as sweet as Lataji did. But I'm not sure why she was compared with Asha Bhonsle. She never once had the lilt and "adaayigi" that Ashaji had and still does. Poor mentorship did Swananda in as well!
