🏏T20 Asia Cup 2025-Ban vs SL 5th Match, Group B, Abu Dhabi🏏

Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi

Asia Cup 2025: Match 5, BAN vs SL Match Prediction - Who will win today's Match?

Bangladesh aims to build on their strong start after defeating Hong Kong, while Sri Lanka look to kick off their campaign with a bang in Abu Dhabi. Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy will carry Bangladesh’s hopes with the bat, while the experienced spin trio of Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Dunith Wellalage form the core of Sri Lanka’s attack.

After a morale-boosting seven-wicket win over Hong Kong in their first group game, Litton Das-led Bangladesh will look to continue the winning momentum against a tough opponent in Charith Asalanka’s Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2025 Match No. 5 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. A win would all but guarantee a spot for the Bangla Tigers in the Super 4s. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka would also aim to get off to a strong start in the continental event. The previous edition’s finalist, Sri Lanka, will then play Hong Kong and Afghanistan in their last two group matches.

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Live Score Updates, Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh take on Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. (Photo: AP)
Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka Weather Forecast

The weather in Abu Dhabi will be sunny, with temperatures soaring up to 37°C. Humidity will hover around 59%, and wind speeds of 24 km/h are expected. Conditions should remain dry throughout the evening, favoring a good contest.

Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka Pitch Report

The pitch at Sheikh Zayed Stadium is expected to be dry with some cracks emerging but remains overall run-friendly. The shorter boundary on one side should encourage aggressive batting. In the previous match, the surface seemed to assist bowlers, especially spinners, making early breakthroughs crucial. The nature of the wicket might be on the slower side.

Two matches have been played so far at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi in the 2025 Asia Cup. The average first-innings score is around 166. The surface is quite balanced, with something in it for batters as well as the bowlers. Powerplay overs are going to be crucial for both teams. The new ball could swing around for a couple of overs under the lights.

Bangladesh Vs Sri Lanka Preview, Asia Cup 2025: Lankans Face Stern Tigers Test In Key Super Four Chase | Outlook India

Bangladesh are in red-hot form in the shortest format of the game. They came into the Asia Cup on the back of series wins against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and the Netherlands. In their opening fixture in the continental tournament, the Bangla Tigers defeated Hong Kong by seven wickets, chasing down a 144-run target in 17 overs.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka bounced back from their series defeat to Bangladesh in July by defeating Zimbabwe 2-1 in Harare earlier this month. Inconsistency has been a problem for the Charith Asalanka-led side. On their day, they can be a very dangerous unit. A lot would depend on how their spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana fare in the tournament. Openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis will also have to play a key role.
