And yeah not the right thread probably but how’s Elsie Silver ? Her books are good ? I saw a couple in your page logs and thought of giving it a read ?

I’ll be okay, will catch up on the weekend otherwise smiley9

Elsie Silver is great! Strange thing is I don’t even like cowboy romances but she totally sold it. Her Chestnut Springs and Rose Hill series are much better but Gold Rush is okay too. Lots of depth and character growth. And small town vibes. Plus her setting is in Canada close to where I live so I can very much relate smiley36

@b: Sure! Take your time smiley27

Ahh that’s good to hear. I thought of asking you a while back but forgot all about it! Thank you for the recommendations. I’ll definitely give her books a read smiley9

Ohkay I'm midway through Chapter 14, will be done soon.

I began with Heartless (Chestnut Springs #2), and I enjoyed it so much that I dived into the whole series. That was my 5 star read, and then Wild Eyes (Rose Hill #2). But I've seen that different people have loved different books in the series, so anyone of them might be a hit for you.

Her characters are usually battling some kind of trauma or challenge and they help each other grow and heal as they fall in love. They are satisfying reads for me and although there is smut, there is also a healthy amount of plot and character development so I don't mind it. She does touch on some deep subjects but does so sensitively.

Thank you so much Lizzie!

Finished up to chapter 16. The last 2 chapters were boring - nothing much happened.

Also, V is already in love with R? wTf?smiley7

She still has residual trauma from him bullying her and calling her ‘chicken legs’smiley7

Also, why does R not use a condom - it’s making me so uneasy smiley11

Ikr! I mean, come on, she was so self-conscious; she worked hard and did squats to get past the trauma—how did that turn into love so quickly? smiley24 Not to mention, he was a mean bully!

But tbh, I’m more angry at Abi. How do you set up your best friend with your brother, knowing he was a jerk and teased her to the point where she became insecure and body-conscious?smiley7

@b: I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed—what’s up with this guy taking liberties? That’s such an important step: developing mutual trust before skipping the use of one. Didn’t see them having that conversation yet, and still, he skipped using one? smiley11

Like this author gives a LOT of details like how the bathroom is designed with different cubicles so they can each do their business in private (Yuck smiley11) and how she uses Colgate toothpaste to brush her teeth but she couldn’t add one line about R using protection? And they’ve done it a few times now, I don’t recall it being mentioned at all! I hope this doesn’t end up in a pregnancy. I hate that trope! smiley11

Ugh.. I really hope that doesn't happen. But god!! instead of all the unnecessary and gross details, one line about both of them consenting to forego protection would have gone a long waysmiley26
