All’s good in the world again! The Israel Palestine conflict has had a peaceful resolution, Donald Trump has revoked all his new tariffs. We have finally found a solution to world hunger. All’s fine again. Well, not quite but hey, MS Dhoni is back as captain of CSK. But Thala takes over a team that is a shadow of the empire he once created at his beloved Chepauk. This isn’t the team that dominated at home and cruised to the knockouts. This is a faltering, ageing team that has lost four of the trot, including two at home. Nevertheless, a change in captaincy with the much beloved Dhoni returning back to spin the coin would surely rouse the morale of the CSK team and their fans.

And so are we at the Chepauk after six days. CSK have a new captain at the helm after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of IPL 2025 with a fractured elbow. The new captain is the old captain. The one who led CSK to five titles. MS Dhoni takes charge when the team has been languishing in the bottom half of the points table with four losses and just one win in five matches. They have never lost three games in a row at Chepauk, will Dhoni and CSK be able to turn the tide? Let's find out. No they play their initial matches in Chepauk and then start travelling I guess.

They already played n Guahati and Punjab n the prev matches.

Pitch and Conditions: "It is a warm, humid evening in Chennai but it is breezy for another CSK home game. The pitch that is going to be used tonight has been used once before - the only game CSK has won so far (vs MI). The dimensions - 68 and 65 meters on the side, 80 meters down the ground. It is a slightly better wicket (than the MI game), it is black soil and very hard. It has got a nice covering of grass. The grass is rolled into it really nicely and because of the humidity it will hold the pitch as well. I'm not going to say it is a 200 wicket. If there is no dew then it would be difficult to access the long boundaries. The curator said there was few last evening and there might be some this evening. Much better batting surface," reckon Deep Dasgupta and Matthew Hayden.

Rahul Tripathi has been shadow batting at both ends of the pitch. He's the most likely guy to replace Ruturaj today. On the KKR front, Venkatesh Iyer is having a bowl on the practice wickets. He might get a chance to roll his arm today.
