SRKAT!!!!
I was shocked to see this movie get a 75% increase in box collections on day 2. What is going on? Are Akshay supporters paying for his box office comeback now? I guess I have to eat my words now. I am so shocked.
Well, they do a quasi discount on the tickets...if someone takes a ticket for 400 rupies, he/she has only to pay about 80 rupies...the rest is paid by someone else (producers, distributor, others)...it is to attract audience and being able to get high boxoffice-numbers (by paying crores for that). Just for a good impression
(everybody knows it, still giving mega-praise).
Well, it's their money and the theatre owners earn a bit (except the PVR as they are among the paying ones). Although... is it the book-my-office company who only earns???

Some shady practices are going on
They offered a huge discount on their tickets, which is fine...but they also indulged in... CORPORATE BOOKING!
BOI has openly been reporting about the corporate booking lol, and they have gone as far to say that its no longer "SkyFORCE" but "SkyFARCE"

So is this movie superhit or just scaled pass the exam

In terms of r e a l acceptance by the audience, it isn't a "superhit" (the occupancy numbers show that), but as it is a patriotic movie, it is supported by non-audience entities through money-giving (money laundering???) which makes a good impression number-wise. These numbers also give Akshay a boosting of his carreer.
I don't think that corporate bookings as such is something bad as theatre owners are getting money for empty seats, but if the occupancy numbers don't fit a certain - believable - amount, it becomes a quite shady tactic. It is usual that s o m e seats are 'blocked' in a theatre (like 10 to 20) - for different reasons - which can be bought, but bying screenings of an empty theatre to fake occupancy definitely is betrayal, imo.
It seems that Hindi/Indian Cinema is on a desperate route...
