In Shahnawaz's world, only three people matter, his mom, his brother and himself. Everyone else is just a peripheral part of this world and as long as they don't hassle or disturb these three, Shahnawaz is fine to coexist with this peripheral part of his world. Even Amal, his uncle and aunt are in this peripheral part of the world.

Then the accident happened. His opponent was someone who already bothered him and annoyed him and no matter what they threw at her, she stood strong and refused to bend. She brought pain and unhappiness to the people he loved the most and in the process also dealt a severe blow to his ego. So he embarked on a plan he thought which will ensure his brother's freedom for ever while at the same time keep his opponent under his thumb for ever with no potential to annoy him further and also to inflict maximum emotional damage on the said opponent. However in the process of faking love, he also started falling in love with her and thought post marriage she will sign maafinama and they will live happily ever after. His talk with his mom before the wedding probably set him straight, his mom told him this is only going to be a fake marriage and Amal will be the only deemed bahu of the house and Mehru after signing the maafinama will be relegated to the not so important bahu, to which of course he agrees because he thinks once the maafinama is signed, he can still keep Mehru as his wife in his life even if he has to marry Amal.

Now with Mehru not signing the maafinama, he knows that once the elections are done and Zain is free, his mom will expect him to marry Amal and that Mehru will be out of his life one way or the other. He does not want to commit his heart into loving her because right now she is just an unobtainable dream even though they are married. The more he spends time with her, the more difficult it is going to be for him to separate from her without pain. So he takes all measures to avoid her. He wants to guard his heart even though he has inflicted pain on hers.

The biggest mistake the director has done here is not to give Shahnawaz and Mehru monologues. In a visual medium like this, we shouln't be trying to infer people's motives. That is not good storytelling. You are not being clever by deliberately keeping things hazy and confusing.

Do you think he is mentally preparing himself to separate from her and marry Amal once his mum wins the elections?

It would have been worst if he revealed it much latter. Even though mehru started believing him she didn't had that much emotional attachment towards him. If he carried on that act for a week or two and consummated their relationship it would have been much much worst.

Yes. I think so. There is no other reason for him to avoid her when his mom is encouraging them to go on their honeymoon etc.

No I agree with that but what I meant we kind of gross over the emotional damage he did to her. Yes him throwing her out of the bedroom was bad but he literally said the most beautiful things to her a second before he threatened her with divorce.

I agree with everything you said about shanno but I think he is still unclear of what to do when his mother asks him to leave mehru. Shanno is like that Galli ka kutta who won't eat the grass himself and neither let the cow eat it. I highly doubt this dude will leave mehru and let her be with someone else. It's not like itv were the leads can simply remarry. If shanno looses her then it will be forever. Right now it just looks like he hasn't gathered the courage to stand against his mother and he also wants his brother out. Nothing is going as he planned. Neither his mother nor mehru are falling in line with the masterplan that dumbo made.

When the writing and directing are mid, then the makers need to spoonfed the audience. In here the director should be giving monologues to both the leads instead of putting them in isolation and showing flashbacks. In dramas like udaari, kuch ankahi etc even if the leads had bare minimum scenes all their scenes were strong and a single scene could convey the message which is not possible for dramas like this. It neither have that kind of dialogues or scenes that can say it all in a single scene.

Oh ofc he's not going to leave her, he just thinks he can at this point 😂 by avoiding her but boy is he going to find out fast. He thinks he can control the love he has for her. Man is a control freak. Love cannot be controlled, that's why we humans have issues in life. We are blessed with rationality unlike the animal species , but we cannot ever control our emotions.

I guess the impact of that scene went down because of how mehru reacted to that. She gave him back in two folds and her reaction affected him more than he did to her. People cared more about how mehru won than how he tried to take advantage of the situation. After that he was literally sulking and complaining to his mother.

Yep exactly that. The only way this works is with Mehru being so strong.

Like someone said he is literally running like a headless chicken not knowing what to do further. Usually he would ask his mother but he can't do that either. All he has right now is talking to Amal in huddles about his inner feelings and Amal is too dumb to connect it all or understand it. So he is spending time with him like we spend time with a psychologist were they just listen and we tell our problems but we no answer as a solution to the problem.

If you have seen shanno don't really have a problem with opening up to people close to him. He talked so casually to his mother about falling in love and about how mehru gets on his nerves to Amal during the accident time. So now he cannot directly talk to anyone about what's happening and it might be eating him up.

Amal is really dumb, when he said " she's staying with me because she loves me" with such longing , she should have got the hint. Amal hears what she wants to hear unfortunately.
