Unfortunately, Rohit Sharma is unable to come back to form! In fact, it is batters' failure.

We are almost half way down our line-up on Day 2.

The Australian pace trio of Pat Cummins, Scott Boland and Mitchell Starc blew away the Indian top order, reducing the visitors to 128 for 5 in their second innings at stumps on Day 2. India still trail Australia by 29 runs and Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy are at the crease.

Earlier, Travis Head struck a sensational century while Marnus Labuschagne returned to form with a resolute fifty as Australia took a 157-run first-innings lead over India at the Adelaide .

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj picked four wickets each as India bundled out Australia for 337. Despite a decent bowling effort, the visitors gave away a 157-run lead. To make things worse for India, the Australian pacers wreaked havoc and reduced the side to 128 for 5 by the end of play!

Now, everything depends on Pant and Reddy, let us see...

They have simply outplayed us. Aussie bowlers bowled with agression and tactfully. It produced results. Our batsmen didn't have clue. It is not that they threw wickets like they did against NZ in recent home series. Also Travis Head , once he settles down it is hard to stop him.

Very true, I fully agree with you.

The match features world-class batsmen and one of the best bowlers in the world. Who will dominate whom on a given day, it's beyond our perception.

But, as viewers, we expect the best play from our players.

Yes, we almost lost our top order and now just waiting to finish this match as a ritual!!

Now, our expectations are on our bowlers, if they perform well, then the defeat will be a dignified one!!!!smiley5

šŸAustralia vs India, 2nd Test: Adelaide, 06 - 10 Dec 2024: Day 3šŸ

Sunil Gavaskar Blasts Mohammed Siraj After Fiery Send-Off To Travis Head: "Got Stick From Crowd..."Mohammed Siraj gave a fiery send-off to Travis Head after dismissing him for 140 on Day 2 in Adelaide.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has described as "unnecessary" the fiery send-off Mohammed Siraj gave to Australian batter Travis Head after the pacer dismissed him for 140 on Day 2 of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval. Gavaskar, speaking on Star Sports, expressed his disapproval of Siraj's actions, emphasising the context of Head's innings. The legendary batter highlighted that Head had played a magnificent knock, becoming a local hero with his eighth Test century and second against India, and Siraj's over-the-top celebration was unwarranted.

"Unnecessary, if you ask me. The man's got 140, he hasn't got out for one or two. You don't give a send-off to someone who's batted brilliantly and won the crowd over. Instead of becoming a hero for dismissing him, Siraj has become the villain,ā€ said Gavaskar. He suggested that Siraj's actions cost him an opportunity to win the respect of the local crowd.

ā€œIf Siraj had simply applauded Head after that dismissal, he would have been a hero for everyone in the stadium. Instead, he got the stick from the crowd, and understandably so.ā€

Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden also weighed in, attributing Siraj's actions to emotions running high in the heat of the contest. While Hayden defended Siraj's intensity as a bowler, he pointed out the need for grace in such situations.

ā€œIt was probably just a little bit of emotion and passion from Siraj, who bowled his heart out. But when you're facing a local hero who's just made 140, you need to show some humility,ā€ Hayden remarked.

Hayden praised Head's innings, calling it a masterclass of controlled aggression, and suggested Siraj missed an opportunity to showcase sportsmanship on a big stage.

Pink-ball blues put India on the brink

On day two, just as on day one, Australia bossed the twilight zone in Adelaide

Rohit Sharma looked like the most lonesome person in the world as he trekked back to the dressing room. It's a good thing they're square of the wicket in Adelaide. Shorter walk.

Australia picked up five wickets in the night session. Were it not for Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland overstepping, they could have got them earlier and built on them further. Sometime in the lead-up to Travis Head's century, it felt like they might be trying something like this. Bowling with the new pink ball in twilight. It's almost the be-all-end-all of this format.

India found themselves in a similar situation on day one when they found themselves with a seven-over-old pink ball at sunset. They were able to take only one wicket.

"Yeah, I think for me if I can just rewind the clock to the first Test match, I thought our lines and lengths were exceptional and I think that was sort of the blueprint for us going into this series," bowling coach Morne Morkel said, "We wanted to bring the stumps into play as much as possible and I felt last night with the ball moving around a little bit we missed that."

In their day-night practice match in Canberra, India discovered that the pink ball responded more when you hit the pitch on a good length. So that's what they did when they got the new ball under lights last night. According to ESPNcricinfo ball-by-ball data, 104 of their first 198 deliveries landed exactly where they wanted it to. But only around 15% of those good-length balls ended up in line with the stumps. Many of the rest behaved a little more erratically than they were prepared for, and by the time they could recalibrate, Australia had seen off the toughest of the conditions to bat in.

"Thirty overs seems to be about the mark at Adelaide Oval that for my whole career, that's the sort of, red ball, pink ball, that's the time where you sort of have to put in and invest and then it feels like the wicket gets slightly easier to bat on." Travis Head, an Adelaide native, said.
