I.cannot.get.over.this.look. All her looks in Iqtidar were so good... whatever happened during selecting a bridalwear. Mehru looks like she couldn't afford parlour so Sadia dressed her up

She was stunning as a bride in that drama. I loved this scene in ASA where Sheroze couldn't take his eyes off Ushna when they went shopping to find the outfit. It was such a many appreciative look but at the same time, there is lots of restraint in those expressions. Such a swoon worthy scene smiley42.

I liked the scene because we can clearly see differences between Rafay and Shaw and why she responds to Shaw and not to Rafay.

When Mehru would talk practicalities like cost of things, Rafay wanted her to be romantic and give him poetic lines like out of a movie. He used to be disappointed that she wasn't giving him doe eyed blushes and doing selfies. Instead, her mind is constantly buzzing on what to do and all the responsibilities that are on her shoulder.

Here, Shaw not only hears her but he tells her that he is going to take responsibility. It is his problem to handle, not hers. That is why "I will handle it" is so powerful and it just quietens her. For once in her life, she does not have to go out there to fix things. He is not dismissing her as too practical but he gets where she is coming from.

At the same time, he is not making the problems bigger than they are and instead makes them seem approachable because he has the confidence that he can handle it. He is a leader and she can rely on him. That is what he is conveying and while she may not express it, that is part of her attraction to him.

He is letting her that she can lean on his shoulder and it will be all fine. For a girl who has had to handle everything by herself even when she had a fiance, how soothing it would be get that kind of confident support. This is a woman who would swoon to that and not to romantic lines. That is why she rolled her eyes at him when he said she was beautiful when she worried.

#1 Thanks to Urooj and Chachi, there are rumours of Shahnawaz and Mehru being an item
#2 Mehru's has one failed engagement to her name because of this rumour which will affect her future prospects
#3 A powerful and wealthy son-in-law like Shahnawaz will actually secure all of their futures and she will finally have some standing in the house.
#4 And with Shahnawaz's support Muskan can get admission in any college and may eventually make a good marriage.
#5 Given the fractured justice system and their power, Zain will be free one way or the other. Besides nothing can bring back Zeeshan, so she might as well secure her daughters' futures
#6 Her other son-in-law is useless and greedy

I really did wonder how they will get the family to jump to yes but was surprised that the arc actually made sense.

Sadia was convinced after Faiza just spoke the bitter truth with a rather indifferent attitude. Faiza said that a life where your husband does not value you or respect you is difficult. She got married to please her mom but her husband constantly communicates that he wasn't interested in her and does not necessarily like her. So they are married but neither are particularly happy. They make do. In the end, it all boils down to value and respect.

Sadia has no respect from her own relatives and so to actually receive value and respect from a stranger is a big deal. So far, she has not seen the bad side of Shaw and Saman. Despite being enemies, both Shaw and Saman were polite and followed etiquette. They did not show arrogance whereas daily, Sadia is being put down by Urooj's family or Beejaan.

Within her own relatives clan, she is not secure and her only way to navigate is to be uncomfortably silent. Even the alliance suggestions for Mehru was a tactic to put Sadia and Mehru down. It was to show them their place and communicate that they have no worth.

By getting Mehru married to Shaw, she will get the voice she did not have for so many years after her husband died. She also never wanted the court case because from the start, she saw it as pointless as nothing would bring Zeeshan back and there was no anger, just sadness. So her journey to considering the alliance did make sense.

that was mind blowing thought I agree mehrunnisa doesn't need that her partner take her responsibility and fulfilled it she wants to do everything herself because it was her responsibility and she wants a partner who can support her stand with her like a pillar . eventually shahnawaz have ulterior motives but he knows and understands mehrunnisa thinking and her character very well that rafey never tried to understand .

I think post-wedding Shah will weaponise Sadia to get Mehru back down from the case

Finally caught up and just a comment on Anmol saying yes. We had discussed so much about how it will happen but I didn't see a situation where she would willingly say yes. What I liked is that Mehru stayed true to herself.

When he first asks her to marry him, her response is a stunned silence. Then she tells him a firm 'no'. She reminds him that there are huge differences in status and lifestyle and she is not impressed by his wealth. Nothing is going to induce her to say 'yes'.

When he says that he likes her, her response is more on the "so what" category. Again, this isn't a typical girl with romantic aspirations or feelings. It is why nothing Rafay did really struck a chord with her.

So what moves the needle for her? The scene at the restaurant where he says, "to make my life beautiful, to make me a better Shahnawaz, marry me".

With those lines, he indicates her importance, her purpose, her value and respect. She is the one with power in that situation and so she is not helpless. Instead, she will get to steer the ship and get to keep her principles. She will get to keep her self-respect because in one area, she is on a higher plateau. So that evens out the differences in wealth and lifestyle.

By giving her a purpose and value, love becomes useful rather than something useless. So she can see his love whereas she was blind to Rafay's feelings. So it was interesting to see the changes in how she processes those thoughts and then agrees to consider his proposal.

Yes, that is why Sadia would have agreed to go seek the alliance. Am also guessing there is political machinery at work as well. They will likely market this as a way to get the party ticket to contest elections.

Only complaint I have with this drama is the OST. I am so sick of hearing the "ishq rowae" every time there is a romantic moment. Please please, can we have something else. My ears hurt and I can't feel the romantic vibes. Totally ruined by that song. smiley44

My only gripe with Mehru is that she completely forgot to mention his engagement to Amal and Zeeshan's case the first time she said no
