I guess writer will try to showcase the difference between the true, unconditional love and conditional love....bilal's love would be unconditional.

Bilal is red flags ki dukan upar se but andar se he is a good honest person. We see that Bilal is very honest about his vices and shortcomings. He drinks and womanizes openly in front of everyone and owns up to his vices. He is not hiding or pretending to be something else. But as Sadaf's dad says, he has one good quality: woh dil ka bura nahi hai and he cares about people.

Ammar on the other hand projects himself to be a good guy but is manipulative and an opportunist andar se. Ammar puts Mirza Namdar's name as a reference on his CV and tells Bilal that he is like a father to me. But minutes before we saw a scene where Ammar and Mirza sb has a very cold distant equation and he didn't even know Ammar was applying or came for an iv. Ammar also is still keeping Dania hanging by checking in on her and when she talks money, he ignores her and disconnects.

So basically, another area of contrast is gentleman kon hai or ghunda kon smiley37smiley37smiley37

From episode 1 it's clear that it's about Bilal's transformation which would happen once he truly falls in love so safe to say it's not like Mein where the story was not about Zaid at all!

Ep 2 for me was a build up to show the stark difference between Amaar and Bilal so in that scene Bilal again was relevant even in Ep2.

Hoping for the focus to shift on Bilal - Sadaf dynamic. It's interesting how many are already hooked to their story and waiting for their first meeting.

Hoping to see more of Humsha & Bilal's dynamics. I guess we will get that in coming episodes.

Looking forward to see how Bilal and Sadaf's love story will progress...hopefully next episode will be more fast paced & Bilal centric.

I don’t mind the focus on the Ammar, Sadaf and Daniya storyline but it just felt repetitive and dragged out. I think I’m just not invested enough in it but clearly it’s leading up to something. I’m over complaining about it now 😂

Agreed about them trying to show the difference between Bilal and Ammar. Ammar seems fake and pretending to be something he’s not. Saying he wants to become Bilal Abdullah and then telling Sadaf’s father that he doesn’t want to depend on referrals but immediately writes his name down. It all screams that he wants to pretend to be something that he isn’t.

Also even if Wahaj’s screen time was limited in this episode, I agree that is nothing like Mein. His role is impactful even in small doses. You feel the focus is on him even when he isn’t on screen. Zaid on the other hand could be seen on screen for much of the episodes sometimes just quietly standing in the background with no voice or POV. This is definitely not the case here. The fact that Bilal is so flawed, but we still have empathy for him says a lot about the impact of this character.

I’m so looking forward to when Bilal and Sadaf meet.

Omg yes, I forgot about his cold interaction with Sadaf’s father and then him acting like he’s a father figure to him in front of Bilal 😂 I actually know people like this guy, lol

Obviously Bilal is interested but I also think he would be genuinely impressed by Sadaf’s CV and offer her the job.

If they show Wahaj wearing a cap written "Mohababat" in last episode, I will disown him for 2 business days but he is so good as Bilal Abdullah

Yes about the contrasting environments that Bilal and Sadaf come from.

I agree that Bilal is dependent on Mirza Saab and cares about his opinion. That’s why his words hurt him. Also he had originally wanted him to stay with him until he fell asleep…that’s so sad and sweet at the same time 😭 Mirza Saab’s words made him want to not depend on him so it became obvious to Mirza Saab that he hurt him. He has empathy for Bilal as well. It’s a sweet relationship. And I agree that he depends on him more than Sadaf depends on him.

Ammar is two-faced along with being greedy and they revealed that already. Right now he appeared honest in front of Sadaf’s dad saying that he doesn’t believe in referrals and wants to get things on his own merit. Then he immediately writes down his name under references. I’m wondering too if Sadaf has feelings for him just going by the promo. Didn’t seem like it from today’s episode though. I hope not. Someone who is threatening suicide is not the one. Also how heartbroken could he have been when he’s shown dancing around right before his interview. I love Usama’s little dance moves btw.

Yup

I think he is projecting his feelings for Namdar Mirza on Sadaf for now, the love part will come later. He would have been sober to meet his dad and he wanted Namdar to stay with him when he was sober till he falls asleep but he admonished him, Bilal felt he is not accepted by him too

There's so much depth in scenes

I have seen the episode 5 times today

So, after trying so hard to not to give in to all those aesthetically pleasing frames, I finally gave up and watched the first episode (I hate watching on-going dramas, the week-long suspense/ wait is not for me!).

It is too early to talk about the story or the characters or even about the performances, I guess. But overall, everything was good – there are a few things I disliked, but I am going to excuse those considering that it is just the beginning. There are a few things I immensely liked and thought I should pen them down.

The first ‘meet’

This cannot be called as a ‘meet’, but whatever it is! As many have pointed out here, that is not a love-at-first-sight kind of a ‘meet’. That’d be a joke, if anyone’d think that way. Bilal sahab saw (he was literally jolted awake) Sadaf, and was fascinated/ amused, and may be impressed too, by the way she behaved. He noticed her alright, more than noticed her, and checked on her. It can be a strong attraction, but no love. But what I liked the most about this part was how the scene was brought into the screen. Right before showing Sadaf, there is a close up of Bilal, where he took a sip and rested his head back while closing his eyes, and Sadaf was shown – at first her visual is slightly blurred as a dream and then focuses, almost as if she was conjured out of his dreamland, where he closed his eyes with Mirza sahab’s promise of ‘Sambhalunga’. That was beautifully done - Either to show that she is his dream come true or to indicate his inebriated state – either way, I loved that minor detail.

The personality differences

You don’t have to emphasize that Bilal is the ‘antithesis’ to Sadaf, at least their outer characters are polar opposite – that is a given even from the teasers. But I loved and loved the way they showed it in this one particular scene, where there were parallel scenes of Bilal walking away from the podium after addressing his staff and Sadaf enjoying the rain. It was wonderfully presented and enacted. He was walking behind a group of happy audience (after sort of spreading happiness – BTW if there are vacant positions in his company everyone should try, such lucrative offers!), all of their happy faces away from him, he walks alone (with the support of Mr. Mirza) containing his misery to himself, with a melancholic smile that doesn’t reach his eyes (Wahaj was really good here!), while Sadaf’s cheerful self is celebrating the smallest happiness with vigor (though I think Maya slightly overdid the ‘happy’ part!) enjoying the life to the fullest. With the background score, the whole scene was beautifully crafted.

‘Her’ vision

He remembered her ‘vision’- right after he gave Mirza sahab the day off, he stumbled and the jolt brought her memory back – again her visual is slightly blurred, which was beautiful, and he seemed slightly taken back and confused with the resurfacing of her vision in his mind. Definitely strong attraction! Again, with the BG music this scene was stunningly melancholic.

Rest of everything, I am going to wait till I watch the next episode. Overall, it was a good first episode for me.

P.S.

Though I think Bilal most probably will try to stop drinking (based on the scenes of the promo – that dumping of the bottle scene), I hope they give it in a believable way – he is an alcoholic with the complete loss of control over the intake, and that is not something that can be easily overcome!

Lovely write-up as always Anu!

W’s performance brings a haunting authenticity to this character. You can see the emptiness in his eyes as he drifts through life, almost like he’s on autopilot. There’s a quiet vulnerability in Bilal—he’s not loud or overbearing. He’s using his Casanova tendencies just to mask his pain—It’s like every flirtation and affair is just a distraction, a way to escape the emptiness he feels inside as if he’s convincing himself that if he keeps moving, keeps seducing, he won’t have to face the heartbreak and emptiness eating away at him. Loved the car scene and the cemetery scene today!
