You guys probably discussed it before but I am still confused.
I thought in Hanafi school of thought, giving triple talaq at one time still counts as one talaq and the process is to have the three talaqs spaced apart with a period of reconciliation between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd talaks.
Why did they then resort to the Halala option?
I can see Shabbir and his mom thinking saying talak 3 times is triple talak but why did the maulvi not clarify? Instead of the maulvi condoning or putting up with a solution which is a major sin (planned halala), shouldn't he have advised Shabbir & his mom that there is an easier out (reconciliation after 1st talak)? At most, this would have been a matter of difference of opinion between different Islamic scholars rather than an action that is considered illegal by all scholars (planned halala).
