Fary, you will laugh when I tell you what I caught up on in the last two days
So I started watching Suno Chanda and uske 5-6 epis dekhe toh side pe "Mere Humsafar" aa gaya recs mein so I jumped over to that cuz mujhe suddenly yaad aaya HOW MUCH you'd gushed over this pair and asked me to watch the show....I think tune clips bhi post kiye the 1-2 yahaan pe to get me to watch but as usual, tab mera dimaag us zone mein nahin tha toh I couldn't get into it
Anyways long story short, I watched the whole show now and I have THOUGHTS. Hala is sooooo pyari yaar....and I'm mainly saying this uptil around epi 20 or so before it all devolved into faltu drama of that ex of hers....lol can't believe they dragged that bakwaas uptil 40 epis...anyways uske baare mein baad mein bolenge.
I think the OST pulled me in and that main poster pe jo Hala ka expression hai as she's watching Hamza tie her sandal. I watched from epi 1 and I guess one is mainly able to appreciate Hala-Hamza more once you get a sense of what all Hala went through from day one....the level of torture done on this girl made me think that ITV aise hi badnaam hai...lol Pak writers koi kasar nahin chhodte in showing selfish rishtedaar who justify their evil harkatein and get whitewashed in the end...lol toh phir ITV se kyun frustrate hona jab wahaan bhi same hi karte hain. Anyways, I am digressing....so you can't help but feel for Hala ki woh bas thode affection ko tarasti kisi ki bhi baat sun leti hai....that kameena Khurram literally used her for timepass and end mein usko bhi whitewash kar diya...lol anyways I should talk about Hala-Hamza....the way they built up their relationship with him treating her like a human being and her feeling so overwhelmed by that only.....how they balanced his growing concern/fascination with her to the point where he takes her to the masjid and marries her....here I'd like to say pehli baar mujhe masjid waali shaadi dekhne ko mili in Pak show rather than the fancy receptions they show in every show....lol the simplicity of it is what I found really touching.
And uske baad the development of their post shaadi equation...how he makes her comfortable bit by bit in standing her ground, feeling at ease in her room enough to want to assert her choices....but my fav was that ATM/bank account kholne wala scene and kitne pyar se he makes her understand that having the money in her own account will make her feel its hers, will make her think about spending it like its hers rather than feeling like she doesn't belong.
2-3 dialogues itne pyare hain and stand out....that one scene where family is taunting him ki Hala uske baraabar ki nahin hai toh he's like theek hai nahin hai baraabar ki but haath pakad ke apne peeche toh chalaa sakta hoon ki chalte chalte ek din khud baraabar pe aa jaayegi......kitne different perspective se equality ki aspiration express kar di rather than giving an empty bhaashan on how she is already equal. Then that other scene where Hala is always walking behind him cuz that loser ex of hers told her ki aurat ko peechhe chalna chahiye toh how sweetly Hamza literally shows her how to walk kadam se kadam mila ke....lol and baad mein she was herself skipping over to walk with him rather than walking behind.....subtly kitni sweet cheezein dikha di.
I think it's hard to actually summarize all of it cuz itni chhoti chhoti cheezon mein inka rishta grow kiya like the way Hamza would even say her name "Hala" with so much softness, the way he'd ask her kyun ro rahi ho...lol kitni cheezon pe he'd ask her so softly even when she was being a total clueless goof
