You explained it well. That's exactly what's happening right now with Wahaj. I never knew critics liked Bilal this much. He truly deserves this praise though.
Bilal haven't done any drama or given performances that made critics to criticise him.

Characters like abdullah, wahji or shahmeer/Fazal baksh aren't very common whereas wahaj's role in gpm and fitoor are pretty common characters in pak dramas. We have seen enough cheating husbands and nakaam ashiqui who ends up being obsessed with the girl. The theme or concept of dobara is something that's not very well explored in pak dramas. As far as I can tell jbg seems to be an over all good project with all the other actors also giving good performances whereas IM's main attraction is Bilal and people are enjoying watching him and his antiques even though nothing in that drama makes sense or no other character comes off as interesting or giving amazing performances. Take him out and there is literally nothing to talk about in that drama. The senior actors are good but nothing worth talking about. The only other actor worth talking about is the real Fazal baksh whose comic timing and dialogue delivery are funny.
In a short spam of time bilal managed to make audience seperate him from his characters and see him for the actor he is than the characters he play. I guess it's mainly because he chooses scripts as an actor and not as a star. His dramas work because of the actor that he is rather than the star he is.
I agree with you. He's a natural actor, no doubt about it. But he's definitely choosy with his projects as well. He has almost tried every genre now.

From their tone wrt him it seems like they have a personal liking towards him.
Yumna's character was poorly written in TB, still she was able to perform. She is very good with adding nuances. Although I found her going a little overboard with expressions in PKS as compared to Bilal but she's still a damn good actress.
You just need a romantic role to get such kind of popularity. I'm sure if Shahmeer gets scenes like Asher got with the hair thing in Humsafar Bilal will ace it. He has those eyes & expressive face.
Humsafar worked not simply because fawad was good with romance, it's also because he had great chemistry with Mahira and their characters had chemistry. That's not gonna happen with IM. The characters of shibra and shahmeer don't have the same chemistry Asher and kheerat had. Some actors just have a natural chemistry between then and if the characters also have chemistry along with the actors complement each other then the chemistry blows up. That's what happened in humsafar, mere Humsafar and tere bin. It didn't happen for kam3, ktk or IM even though they are also massively popular drama with high views. These dramas are hit for different reasons and not the insane chemistry between the leads.

That personal liking seems to be solely because of them liking him as an actor. Both Hassan and aamna have said they don't know much about bilal as he don't make much public appearances or gives them IVs. Same with Rabia. But I guess he is very well behaved so whatever little they know of him are only good things so they don't have any reason to shade him or dislike him. If bilal does a mein we can see what they truly think of him. Aamna and Hassan's personal liking totally depends on their personal interactions and equation with actors.

Sh is milking this sania-sohaib-sana thing but putting clips of sania's iv for them.
hate this , he does not deserve this

It will work for Bilal just like it has worked for other actors. I see him all over social media getting praises when Dure isn't that much praised.
As a pair they may not overtake these already famous pairs but as an actor he's almost there.

Yes. That's what I'm talking about. They like him for whatever reasons that's why there's not much calling out of the character as well.
I am intrigued with Shahmeer's character. He has so many layers. Murtasim wasn't that deep.
If we solely speak about characters Shahmeer wins anyday over Murtasim.
I kind of do not agree, shahmeer barely has any screen time and the guy who has lost one of his parents has been done to death. Everything in this show "tries" to look deep but is just really randomly put. Murtasim was toxic and not that deep either but as a character leaves a mark more than Shahmeer.
