Hit in India , Blockbuster in overseas ... thats anything but underperformance

You would need a storyline of vilifying minorities for that to happen
Just because they are minorities their crimes can't be shown?
Its been given the hit verdict in india and blockbuster verdict worldwide.
Its even still running in theatres in some countries even though its released on ott and other movies have released, the movie is a success

To summarise, yes

Without Ranveer's comedy gig, it would have been a bore fest. Then again, some of his gigs, like him wearing a bra, was distatsteful.
I get the criticism of adultery.
But I am curious why folks found the bra shopping scene distasteful. Everyday items that women use, like bras and sanitary products, are treated as taboo in India. I think normalizing men knowing about and shopping for these products is a good thing.
Yes. The chickens with their overpriced eggs quacking all day are proof enough.

I really don't get the NRI audience appeal but it's as loud and in your face like a foghorn whether you care for it or not. NRI audiences in the UK/USA love the nostalgia factor and for them SRK=BW and KJo by extension.
Whereas the audience in India have been exposed to other types of cinema.
I remember watching KKHH as a little pre-teen here in the UK, hated the movie even as a 10 year old but the craze was palpable at 1st watch. Teenage girls dancing in the cinema and couples making out in the back seats was a staple in SRK movies. I remember me and my fellow immature pre-teen cousins would laugh and keep looking back rather than being engaged in Mohabbatein.
Have a distinct memory of aunty jis dissing Munna Bhai which was playing alongside, saying "who'd want to watch this when you have KHNH". So you can imagine the illogical craze of banding SRK-KJo-YRF cinema as all that's great about BW cos they never gave anything else a fair chance.
A lot of NRIs have their mind stuck in the year they left India. Not just re: Bollywood. Gender discrimination, career options, even prejudices (including caste) from back when are carried over.
Best part is they feed their kids stupid stories about India. I know one chap who went to India to marry because his mom told him the story of Sandili and her sick hubby, whom she took on her shoulders to visit a pro. Wifely devotion and all.
I laughed at the guy and told him very bluntly modern Indian women aren't going to put up with that. His mom wasn't very happy with me.

It's one thing to normalize it and another to make someone wear it when he isn't comfortable.

IMHO, he was uncomfortable because he was raised to view it as taboo. How would you approach normalizing bras to men conditioned to be uncomfortable with them?
