Rajshree danced like nimble dew drops with elegant rhythmic dancing. This is ethereal, thanks to Kishori Amonkar and Ramlal. What to say and how to express it in words?!
The beauty of this song is beyond description!!! One of my all-time favourite songs...everything about it is just so unique!! Rajshri's dance, Ramlal's composition!! everything...and what can I say about Kishori's voice? This is nearly cosmic in its enigmatic nature. This song never fails to make me emotional.
V. Shantaram was first and foremost an artist, and subsequently a filmmaker. He was an admirer of brilliant and flamboyant colours, which he paired with the most elegant dance and photography. He was a filmmaker who brought the world's enormous cultural diversity to the screen.
"Geet Gaya Pattharrone" is a forgotten gem in Indian cinema. The picture starred his daughter Rajshree, whose cinema career was cut short by marriage, and she went abroad after a few more films. "Around The World" is one of them, starring Raj Kapoor. This was Jitendra's debut film, and he appeared like he was on sedative! in comparison to his later films, in which he was the "jumping jack!" of Indian cinema.
Rajshree was a brilliant dancer who was born to dance rather than to act. This is one of two of V. Shantaram's greatest films, the other being "Janak Janak Payal Bhaje."
Another beautiful song from that movie---
