so I found the drama kind of by accident -- as in I went in blind not knowing what it was about as the synopsis on the streaming site was rather vague. all I knew was the drama was a bit of a surprise ratings winner even though it covered rather serious social issues. think a lot of the winning formula is also due to the humour that is provided by the family members.

I was cracking up when the mom-in-law said "my husband loved his mother and my son loves his wife more. God, why are you testing me?" and the twins just start laughing. 😂 in ITV, you would never hear mom-in-law admit it and neither would her sons be laughing at her. here, they play it for laughs. 😆

in answer to your question, I watched about half of the drama. took a break and peeked into the middle to see vedat die and then the end episode. hahahahah.. I am not sure how they kept the drama going after vedat's death but I just wanted to make sure the guy died because I was so sick of his creepy face. basically the director wanted to keep the drama going as it was ratings hit but the FL actress was like "nah, lets wrap it up". they did end the drama in a way that makes everything come full circle. you feel satisfied with the ending.

rather than them being on the run, most of the drama was about facing the cultural and religious implications of her situation and how people are almost nonchalant or not caring or coming to odd assumptions. in between there is lots of masala and over-the-top reactions but nothing feels overly contrived. it makes sense in that world because this family is so loud. 😆

what I loved was that the lecturing was done mostly by two characters -- baba Osman, Asiye's dad who is also the local imam and a lawyer lady who also happens to be Asiye's cousin. so baba Osman addresses the cultural and religious implications of how to respond to such situation as a society while the lawyer lady responds from a legal angle.

baba Osman is such a fantastic character and some of the things he says are so deep. so well written. I wish we had such good lecture moments in ITV instead of the drivel we often get from mahaan FLs. just leave the lecturing to someone who has life experience!

general description: melodramaticly intense to the core!!!! (basically my kind of high live wire drama 😆) the first five minutes will give you a sense of the drama.

ML is not only handsome but someone very kind but also very brave and principled -- definitely not a pushover and someone who shows that being good does not mean a doormat. FL is a real strong character who has faced extreme hardship. to say more would be spoilers but the drama deals with real difficult themes in quite a sensitive way without losing any of its masala. neither of them are immature idiots. 😆

the side characters provide good doses of comedy -- this is one drama where you laugh at the fights between mom-in-law and daughter-in-law because the battles are so witty. so yea, all masala elements balanced rather nicely for the most part.

great OST and one of the few dramas where the geography/landscape is almost a character in itself. you almost feel like the black sea is an actual person with the way characters refer to it.

Oh this show has been my favourite 😍🌹

Only the first season because the second season has other writer who destroyed the whole show so i quit watching it

The show has some criticism (which i don't care about becuase i was very attached to NefTah in S1)

As they said the woman who has been tortured aggressively won't run to be with other man regardless of how good he is

Or in other words couldn't fall in love with such short period

Anyway as you know i never place logic or reality in my zone of entertainment otherwise this entertainment would be spoilt

season 1 has 22 episodes.

yea, season 2 -- even I dropped it midway as it got boring. vedat dies at one pont and so I skipped to that part and then watched the ending episode of season 3.

just sharing if you are curious, season 3 ends with nefes passing her school exams and getting into law college. by this time, she has had a baby girl with Tahir. so the drama ends with them going to Istanbul for her to pursue law studies with her hopes to help other women in troubled situations. as a family, they all have gotten very close and so I took it as a temporary move for her studies because Nefes loves the Black Sea region and the people she has gotten to know while Tahir is through and through a rural boy by the sea. I thought it was a great ending and way to make the show come full circle.

ooh, glad to find another person who has watached it. wasn't it awesome? yea, the second season was a bit of kitchidi mess. I think they got too excited about the ratings and had to extend the madness. 😆

I read that the drama got more ratings than a football match and some of the episodes were the highest in a decade. the show did face some criticism over the violence depicted but I think the makers wanted to show the ugly side of domestic violence so people don't brush it off. I felt they wanted to provoke people in some ways. apparently the show did ignite a lot of debates and chatter around various issues.

and I think Nefes and Tahir essentially fell in love at first sight. usually I find that strange but this drama is so intense that I could feel the chemistry and so I totally bought the whole love at first sight. 😆 Nefes struggled with her feelings because she is in a complicated place to say the least and Tahir is focused on getting them all out of it. so I didn't see a mismatch with her moving on to Tahir. I actually thought they showed the transition of how it can be difficult to open up after such a trauma -- one step forward, five steps back.

I can’t watch anything when I don’t understand the language. My mental block😔 I need more of the nuances of language than subtitles.

the drama I dropped for my sanity was a PK drama called tere bin which is highly popular. that is what me and shalzie were discussing -- she likes the ML whereas I despised him! 😆 rsrockz said ML may have done something bad which made the forum sad -- I wasn't even surprised at this plot turn if true because the ML's character arc in the beginning itself showed him to be moron.
