Comparing Madhuri with Hrithik - Bigger Superstar?

Weird comparison I know. But its better than ghise pite comparisons of Salman and SRK's stardom, or comparing Ranbir's stardom with Hrithik or Raj Kapoor's, which have obvious answers.

Biggest Hits of Madhuri in her career are Tezaab, Dil, Saajan, Beta, Khalnayak, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Raja, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Devdas.

Biggest Hits of Hrithik in his filmography are Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, K3G, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish, Dhoom 2, Agneepath, Krrish 3 and War.

Madhuri has bigger Hits and Blockbusters. But most of Hrithik's Hits are solely because of him. Madhuri movies have other actors with almost equal or bigger contribution in their success, except Raja which was a Blockbuster solely because of Madhuri.

Who was/is a bigger Superstar in his/her prime?

Not just Raja with sunjay kapoor, but in almost all of her hits she overshadowed the male lead and came out more prominant figure for the successes...

from teezab with ek do teen, Dil with her firey act, Saajan she dominated the movie, Beta was called beti, khal Nayak with choli, hum aapke hain kaun she got more coverage on the posters and hoardings, raja everyone knows, and in many of her films if you observe mostly she had more of her images compare to the male lead on film posters and if the images wre equal in umber she used to get bigger pictures and more prominence to her on posters and hoardings, in an industry where the actresses were just there specially in 90s and wre second fiddle mostly to male leads.

that says alot about her superstardom.

There is a reason why sridevi and Madhuri are known to be the last female superstars so far, even till today despite great talent who came after them (ash. rani, preity, Kajol, Kareena, Priyanka, Kat, Deepika etc)

AFAIK, Anil was the bigger star when Tezaab came out although Madhuri became a sensation with Ek Do Teen. Sanjay Dutt got most accolades from the audience for Saajan and Khalnayak. Haven't witnessed it first hand but this is what I've heard from people living in those times.

Also in DTPH, SRK was the biggest star and Karisma stole the show. In Devdas, again SRK was the biggest star at that time. For other Blockbusters I agree she was the biggest star in the movie.

Don't want to take anything from Madhuri. She was a Superstar for sure, but other actors also deserve credit for the success of her films.

obviously Anil was already an established actor while it was Madhuri's first hit but she was the major attraction for the cinegoers with her song

In Saajan sunjay was praised for his performance as a disable but Madhuri was the MAIN STAR of the show and people flock to theaters mainly to watch her on screen.

I never mentioned anything about Dtph and Devdas (still Karishma did not STOLE the show, though she was much appreciated but stealing the whole show is an over statement here)

I didn't mentioned Devdas, but despite a small role and much lesser screen time her name appears before the main lead Aishwarya in the opening credits and that's enough to say something about her stature.

In Devdas for me Madhuri was the best part, SRK over acted while Ash underacted.

I would say Madhuri had a decade worth of craze, while Hrithik could not even manage a decade after initial craze.

Madhuri and Sridevi (especially Sridevi who was famous in 3 cinemas for decades), after them none manage to create an impact like these two ladies did.

Hrithik is trying to beat or go ahead of 5 Superstars - 3 Khans, Kumar & Devgn since his debut in 2000.

23 years gone, he is still at 6th position, which he is exchanging with Ranbir, Ranveer & Tiger.

Till the time Khans retire, he won't make big.

Madhuri is all together different beast in her prime, no comparison.
