And Sonam is quite awful as an actress to begin with. But she still managed to deliver to an extent with Delhi 6, Neerja, Aisha. Shraddha on the other hand had a couple of really good projects to showcase her skills - Haider and Haseena - and she fluffed those completely because of lack of talent

I enjoyed Haider more than Neerja

Maybe if she put some effort in her acting skills, she would be able to breakout and get some roles which matter. Put her in Alia's place - she would absolutely ruin movies like Udta Punjab, Highway and even lighter roles the Dulhania series and 2 states.

Compare karna hai toh jhanvi, sara se karo. They would probably fall in the category you are talking about. And honestly, both Jahnvi and Sara are at par or better actresses than Shraddha. Baring your teeth in a smile, while doing dance movies is not dancing

This would be the only part I disagree with. Apart from the beyond annoying voice she is at par if not better than Sara or Jhanvi. They would have not made Arohi as rememberable.

Apart from her really annoying voice she is better at expressions anyway. Yes, she can still do some serious work on her acting considering she is senior to them.

Here is a very controversial statement. Taking away her annoying voice I find more natural than Sonam on screen. That being said I don’t think she could have done Neerja better.

You know all these actresses can be annoying at different levels. For eg I get turned off by the way Sonam speaks, the way Sara and Shraddha screech etc. But they all sometimes manage to give decent performances here and there when they are not pushing it too hard. Like I genuinely liked Sonam in Neerja, Sara in Kedarnath, Jhanvi in Ruhi. Even Shraddha was decent in Stree and TJMM. So I would say all of them are at par with each other, the variations may differ of course depending upon the type of role they are playing. But the thing with Shraddha is that she has consistently been bad, it’s been years since she has made her debut and she is still stuck at where she begun, she looks like a doll onscreen but does manage to annoy the crap outta me 😆

Nah you are right. I find Sonam annoying but she was very good in Neerja and did full justice to her character.

Oh I just remembered, Sonam was also good in that film Ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga.

True but here is the only part where I might understand where Shraddha was coming from. Jahnvi and Sara got piled up with quality scripts and directors right from the getgo of their careers. On the other hand Shraddha has been working with second tier movie makers. Yet she still has characters more iconic than Sara or Jhanvi that is saying something about natural abilities.

Anyone who has worked in films and I know many would agree that a well written and developed character and quality director can extract the best from a performer. The opposite is also true. Sara and Jhanvi got almost the same quality film makers as Aloo. If they really had potential they could have given at least one rememberable performance by now. They haven’t. That is saying something. Only quality film maker Shraddha has worked with is Vishal Bhardwaj. And even in Haider her role wasn’t all that substantial. She still got some praise

She didn’t always speak in this slow and quiet manner did she? I found it very annoying.

As for the topic, I don’t believe any industry kids when they claim they auditioned, specially one with a famous father, famous massi, and famous great aunts. Someone on Reddit made a great observation about how even a few years ago star kids would talk about how their first film came to them by fate and how someone approached them at a party or a gym and offered them a movie, and now suddenly after the nepotism backlash they’ve all auditioned and struggled for years 🙄🙄🙄

She should have known better than to claim she feels like an outsider. But I suppose it was a safer option than saying I don’t get the same treatment as Alia or Jahnvi, which would be a fair statement. I think she’s going for a new narrative with the whole “my journey has been very unique” crap and it came across as insincere and opened her up to mocking.

Even Sonam got more quality film makers than Shraddha. Like I said it was probably the one thing keeping her from hitting super stardom.

Sometimes very aggressive PR and marketing is needed to let everyone know a performance was memorable. Nothing will ever beat what KJo and Dharma machinery did for Alia post Highway. Nothing.
