Long(really long) rant alert!
I started seeing after Jay Soni's entry and will continue to see this until his proper exit..(Which better be a nice exit..)
I like HC but never liked Abhimanyu.. from the beginning of S3. But that is a rant for later times..
So was not heart broken when Abhira separated.. In fact I predicted it. But I never thought I would see SGP's Ishan(aka Jay Soni) in this show... It was such a sweet surprise. While everyone were crying, I was shamelessly smiling. And his character is also refreshingly sweet and nice.. the number of toxic MLs I have to see.. MLs with anger issues are not rare in any drama..(not just ITV.. I am looking at you Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Philippines..).. In fact they are just so common...The trope that the men are obsessive, jealous, extremely passionate is also over used in romance genre.. Ok getting side tracked..
Abinav is just a decent human being. Let's see..
He saw a woman (who literally looks like a ghost) almost kicked out of the bus. Being an empathic person, He offered to help that woman who looked like she was in lot of pain. He did not pester her to tell him anything.. or even bothered her much.. he just left her after advising her to take a break from whatever was hurting her by resting against the window.
If things would have gone smooth, then he would have left ak and her problem alone and continued his journey alone.. he was not nosy. But then ak fainted and he offered to take her to hospital...Because he was a kind person.
Again he would have left her, if he could have contacted her family and if her family came to pick her. But her phone broke and he was again stopped from continuing his journey. And he hears the woman is pregnant.. He feels something is off.. but that is not something he can ask a stranger. The woman wakes up.. but is still in mental fatigue state. He informs her about the mobile and leaves without much bothering her. When he returns the tear-filled woman slaps him for no reason.
But he again continues to be understanding and feels that it was just an outburst misfired.
Now a pregnant woman refuses to go back to her house and stay safe. IF he just left her to fend for herself(no money and she broke the phone in frustration{which..btw.. he just fixed that}).. he could not help but feel uneasiness.. just because he is that kind of person. Still, he did not offer much.. just a temporary shelter in a woman's hostel, until the woman come out of her grief. Again, he could have left and then have no connection with her what so ever.. but again.. just then he finds out that the hostel kicked her out.. he had no choice but he help her himself.. maybe because he felt partly responsible(?) for the fact that she ended up in police station.
He offered her his residence as a temporary rest point.. till he drop this woman to a safe place.
After being extremely polite and helpful.. he finds out that this woman feels that she is a handful and she leaves him without any farewell.. but still he drops her at her friend's place.. and by now he understood that this woman would not exactly allow anyone to help her. He just waits for a confirmation.. last time he left her without a proper confirmation she ended in much bigger trouble. He sees that the woman again on streets without any help. By now.. it was time to extend a hand of friendship to a needy person.
He helped her.. again thinking that the help is temporary.. He expected her to solve her problems with her family, whatever it was soon. After seeing her suffer due to her pregnancy..he still hoped her to patch up with her family. He even succeeded in convincing her to talk to her husband.. but he goofed up.
Yes, Let me address the elephant in the room... The whole miscommunication is because of Abinav's stupidity and nothing else... it was so simple..
Abhi: "Where is Akshara?"
Nav:"Oh! please wait.. she is in washroom right now... "
Abhi: "Who the heck are you and why are you holding my (ex)wife's phone"
Nav: "Just a helper.. but that is not important.. Aksharaji wanted to talk to you about something really important.. please wait"
Maybe he got tensed when the opposite person just growled at him. Abhi voice sounded way too jealous in that phone call.. i was like, "Dude, just because a man answered your (ex)wife's phone, it does not have any double meaning."
And still he was just a friend.. he then risked everything to make sure the baby was born.. He held the little piece of life or almost a week till the mother gained consciousness... even then.. when he gave the baby to akshara, he said, "Sirf aapka beta" as though reminding himself that he had no right over the baby.. but he did not need any right to love the baby..
He held the baby and took care of the baby till the mother woke up.. there was no way he couldn't have developed feelings for the baby.. he nurtured the baby to health.. Even the baby felt connection to Abhinav's warmth.. We can see that the grown up Abhir also hugs Abhinav a lot and sleeps cuddling Abhinav..
Then Akshara proposes to marry for the sake of the baby to whom he got so attached he probably did not think much.. He just wanted to love the baby. He knew that the relationship was just for the baby and there will not be romantic feelings.
We know that for Abhinav, children were important in his future, as he broke up with a girl who did not want to have children.
And now, for people who think that that the whole Abhinav not developing any feelings for Akshara is unrealistic.. It is not though...
If we can accept Ishimaa from Yeh hai mohabatein or Neela maa from Naamkaran or Indu from bahut pyaar karte hai to love the children they did not have relation to and were not much interested in looking for romantic relationship.. why couldn't we just accept that Abhinav was just satisfied by becoming a father.. and was not interested in a romantic relationship.
The hindi movie 'Ghar ka chirag(1989)' showed a man marrying a pregnant woman and loving the son very deeply.. he and the mother had a sweet family relationship with the kid but they were not physically intimate.
Malayalam movie, 'Mangalam Nerunnu(1984)' showed a man loving and caring for a prostitute's daughter. He never had a relation with the mother but loved the daughter as his own. He sent her to a best boarding school and kid called him 'daddy'. For the sake of the child, he did offer the mother marriage, but the mother refused. He remained unmarried till the end though. He did not separate her from her own mother.. just legally adopted her after her mother's demise.. that movie showed such a beautiful father-daughter relation..
So, I can totally believe that a man can also be in a platonic relationship with a woman and love her child as his own.
And I think that there was no other perfect person to act this character pother than Jay Soni.. Such a perfect casting..
I just hope he gets a proper send off from the show... when the time comes..
