Messi not wanting to retire has nothing to do with France players being upset tho? I mean it's not like France lost on purpose because Messi was planning on retiring and they wanted him to win.

Sure Messi pulling this trick is unfair and plays with fans' emotions (which honestly sucks) but the game didn't have any foul play and every player gave it their best.

It is not healthy or helpful for young talents but it is true their passion and love for the game does make them greedy. He probably doesn't mean it though he made clear he will play at club level

Never said of any foul play here. It affects the narrative he had spun that he'd retire and fans emotions being at stake. Alot of the fans had bet on ARG because of this and thinking of a proper farewell to him. Here and elsewhere, France was told to sit down because Mbappé is young and France won last year even when both the teams had equal number of cups prior to this win, assuming this will be Messi's last. The same gets fed to the players too. The French team might have thought that he's retiring too. Who knows what effect it has on morale.

It's unfair to play with peoples' emotions.

He seems to be planning to take COPA home next. Maybe that will be his swan song. 🤷‍♀️
