I didn't see people saying that around me, because everyone wanted him to win through his own efforts. And I do think Argentina was not handed this win easily and Messi 'retiring' had nothing to do with it

France fought even with the virus wreaking havoc on their players. I stopped watching when I saw Mbappé bawling. This is def a low for Messi. I wish he'd see the light and bow out. The problem with GOATs, and seasoned players is this only, they don't concede and quit. Same story in cricket too. Just so damn selfish. They had their moment in the sun, now make way for younger players. 🤔

He knows he is done. Today also he was pulling and stretching at his hamstring and you could see he struggled a bit with run.
