Topanga Lawrence, Chief Marketing Officer
1. Were you and the victim on good terms?
Yes, David and I were on wonderful terms.
2. What was your reason for coming here tonight?
David had called me and other senior executives to discuss some official matters over lunch at a new restaurant in town called Blind. But such a weird concept I tell you, how can you eat in the dark if you cannot even see your food? And how can you trust the quality of the food when you have to rely on only smell and taste? Looks are important for marketing any good or service. Anyhow - that was the reason why we were there.
3. How did you know the victim?
We had worked together at the firm for about 8 or 9 years now. He was a friendly boss, but fair in his judgement. Treated everyone, as far as I am aware, with dignity.
4. Where were you at the time of the murder?
So, I was feeling a little under the weather and had a bout of nausea since I seemed to have activated some peanut allergies in the restaurant. *Hmmph* that's what happens when you cannot see the food and end up eating something you ideally shouldn't! I rang the bell on the table for some assistance. There was a waitress called Jenna who escorted me to the washroom which was downstairs, and helped me out. When I returned back to the table alone, about 5 minutes or so later, I heard David scream, and next thing we know, he was dead, as you confirmed.
5. Did you know he was thinking of retiring?
It was informally stated once over wine, that he wanted some change, and he would like to then hand the reigns to one of us from the team, since we had all been close for so many years. But the retirement part was kinda understood I guess, with the amount of extra holiday time and money he was spending with our CIO.
6. Did David have any enemies?
I'm not sure. But it is obvious there might be someone out to get him, otherwise why would the poor soul be murdered like this.
7. Did you notice anything odd?
Well, David seemed a little worried about something when the COO, CFO and I met him and the CIO at the entrance of the restaurant. His shirt was untucked, his tie was undone, his shoes did not even match his outfit. Really not the look that suits a business tycoon at all! David never really learned how to manage himself better, I tell you.
8. What did you witness since you were sitting with the victim?
I was seated across him (the seat at the far right end of this picture) and there was a vase in front of him obstructing my view, so did not really have a clear view of anything once we were inside. Also the lights being off made it tougher for any of us to really look at each other. And later on my peanut allergies and nausea made it a little tough for me to really be cognisant of anything else. But yes, I did find it weird how he seemed to have conveniently ordered a dish with peanuts in it when he knows I am allergic to it. Later on, when the lights came on, there was so much blood coming from David's head, *arghhh* I was so petrified. I've never really seen anyone die in front of my eyes like this. I think I might have even fainted if I was not taken out of there.
Is there anything else you'd need to know? Here's my business card. My number is XXX-XXX-XXX. I'd like to be of help in any matter you deem worthy if you should so need me.
