So what is it? Is she happily living it up or is she facing racism to the point she has to change her accent?

ETA. Yeah, if people think U.S. is that racist and xenophobic, one naturally wonders why they want to move here. If it's the cash, just be upfront and say so. You (generic you) are there for the money. Which kind of says a lot about you (generic you) when you actually had plenty of money and success already elsewhere and simply wanted more AND were willing to put up with racism and ageism to make that more.

What's the word I'm looking for? Mercenary, greedy... that sort of thing.

Again, this is about the already successful people moving ONLY for cash and are willing to put up with any trashy behavior for that cash. Not about asylum seekers or manual laborers or political refugees.

I agree, what you experience as a teen or kid in an immigrant/upwardly mobile setting may not be the same now, she is succesful, confident and more adept and hardened at handling stuff, is in NY or Cal liberal places, has money and can see what the advantages are much more now and can deal with negative stuff better

Acc to them, PC lived in US for a few years as a teen, moved back because of bad racism.

She returned to the US to fulfill her ambitions, met NJ, married, and is living there.

She acts American because Hollywood is still racist and ageist.

Also, she's not facing racism but is living it up because NY and CA (where Hollywood is) are not racist.

actually I didn't think she needed to change her accent given she spoke well... from what one saw of her previously on the world stage. But now that I think about it, it might make sense for her to pick up her accent if she is going to work in an industry which is all about emoting and connecting with the audience, and where the audience is primarily white/ american english types which it is for HW. Imagine looking for work in HW going around with a thick yem yem yo yo accent. Aint happening. Of course if you're a code coolie who never faces people, you might not feel the need to.😉

lol you sure got a lot of warped notions.😆 So criticizing the racism one has faced is trashing the US? That way, every American criticizes some aspect of American life or the other. That does not mean they are not glad to be American. By contrast, the Egyptian I was talking about clearly detested everything about America. It was really weird for you to be equating that guy with her, if I may say so. I'd have expected you to know the difference.
