I enjoyed reading your reviews. 😃

This drama is getting better by each passing ep.

The reception function was full of fun and embarrassement on the same time. Ayesha's family was out of place there. Her mom cuddling Basit's face, and taking the bad omen , were 2 scenes which made me laugh yet realize the big difference between the 2 families.

Ayesha took my heart by confronting Basit about the way he deals with her. 😒 I felt more than happy seeing him taking care of her injury. Watching them there on that sofa made my heart beats.â˜ș

A little slow, like most dramas, but it has been decent up till now. The main leads have dimensions to their characters which makes you want to see how they react as the story unfolds. The story itself seems decent, though it has elements similar to other recent dramas. However, it's done well enough that you don't notice it much.

When I said similar elements to other dramas, I was mainly referring to Ibn-e-Hawwa. **Small Spoilers**. The main character of that show also hates/dislikes women because his mother left him and his father for some other guy. His father also dies pretty early on, leaving him broken and further increasing his dislike for women. Like Basit, he is forced to marry a woman for financial reasons, though his situation is very different. Apart from these similarities, the shows are different enough to watch both.

I stopped watching Ibn-e-Hawwa a while ago, may continue at some point-not sure.

I'm not liking the new shows that I've tried tbh. So not sure what to recommend. Although, i watched Mere Humdum Mere Dost a while back and really enjoyed it.

I completely relate to this. I keep rewatching the old episodes as I get impatient waiting for the next episode. It is a comfort watch.....such a feel good story and characters.

I wouldn't say Basit doesn't have a heart but yes I liked how you put it....that with his father's death, something in him died.

I loved reading your analysis of the characters. Some things I wanted to add to that...

What I like is that although Basit is forced to get married, it wasn't like he chose Ayesha randomly. He chose Ayesha because of her honesty and integrity of her character. Basit finding the bundle of cash in his car untouched when he knew how desperate she was for money was a powerful scene. Like his friend suggested, he could have found a girl at an orphanage to marry him. He could have opted for a contract marriage to inherit his father's money. He sees Ayesha as someone he can spend the rest of his life with. In episode 2 or 3, he mentions to Farhad that although he is getting married due to his father's will, this is a life long commitment for him.

@sourdough Heyyy! haha! And the next best thing to rewatching earlier episodes is to discuss these characters.

I would like to add something to what you wrote. I think fate plays a major role in the process that makes him notice Ayesha. That moment when he is in his office worried about the financial squeeze, he turns and sees her for the first time. That moment for me was such a magical one because there she was the answer to his prayers, the solution to all his problems and he doesn't realise that. When she talks of financial difficulties in her family, she echoes the worry about finances that he himself is caught in at that moment. When he is having a breakdown in his office after Soha breaks the engagement, Ayesha goes through her own bout of anxiety caused by the landlord's demands. When she finally tells him, once again he sees a connection between the two of them.

The moment in the car as you pointed out and Farhad's advice coalesce into something more. It is by chance that she is there before him just at the very moment when he is having that argument with his mother. And he points to her as his wife but perhaps, it was already there in his mind because of the factors that you mentioned. Perhaps not voiced out even to himself. When he returns to the office after striking that deal with Ayesha's mother, the expression on his face!!! There was so much in his eyes at that moment. Perhaps he was looking at her, truly looking at her as the partner he had chosen for life. Perhaps there was that unvoiced desperation in his heart that he himself had kept repressed, the desperate desire for unconditional love. I have seen a couple of dramas of Feroze before this but that moment made me want to applaud him for his acting. His expression was so subtle and yet so deep. Ushna is a brilliant actress and Feroze really matches her step for step in this show.

But yes, he also likes the fact that Ayesha will not try to go against him or that she is not difficult to "manage" unlike Soha. There is a safety in Ayesha that he needs in his current state of mind. He trusts her instinctively which we see from the very first moment during her interview. His trust is further validated by seeing the cash in the car. He hands her the envelope to keep safe during the walima again as a sign of his trust. I want to see him scold her in the next episode because while it will be a traumatic moment for Ayesha (I do believe she will learn about the deal), it will also be a moment that in hindsight will make both of them reassess their relationship. Perhaps Ayesha will take a step back and think that this relationship is like a new job for her while for Basit, it will be another wave of realisation that she is not an employee but rather his wife.

Generally speaking ..

I am happy we have a show where there are no negative in your face characters or extreme ones..Zoya, Bobbi phupo are greedy but stupid ...

Most interesting is ayeshas mom . She is greedy , selfish , devious but she is hell of a smart woman . Such ppl r really dangerous as they put up a great show with their antics , making anyone believe anything . Nobody knows what their true feelings are. Bano can see through her but even she couldn't make ayesha see that she is being manipulated by their mom..as bano was happy to see ayesha getting away and having a good life , she didn't protest much against the cheque .

I love ayesha but she is gullible .when 75 lakhs truth will be out, I wanna know If she can forgive basit and see through her mother's plan.

I liked soha too . She wasn't the kind of girl meant for basit that's about it..otherwise she was a nice girl with a mind of her own ..

Basit does have a heart ❀ he just needs a lot of love and security..assurance kind of..I am sure the anxiety will go away soon ..at the same time I fear in future if anything untoward happens , he won't be able to handle it ..I feel he will start loving ayesha so much that he will develop more anxiety due to the fear of losing her ..ayesha will need loads of patience with him. I hope this drama doesn't go the humsafar wayđŸ„ș

Yesss!! I love the lack of extreme toxicity in this drama.

And please no! I sincerely hope this drama continues in this magical path it has followed so far. I don't think this drama will go the humsafar way because firstly Basit would never trust anything that comes out of his mother's mouth. And secondly, Basit's character is already dealing with issues that were never there in Humsafar..his distrust for women is coupled with actual mental anxiety and depression. He is taking medicines which means he goes for therapy. Which is also why he returns with that glass of water for Ayesha. He knows he has a problem and he is willing to work on it.

And yes, I love the fact that every single character is portrayed as rounded human beings... even Ayesha's mother's extreme selfishness is not left as a completely black depiction. There is humour in the way the character is shown as well as context which allows us to at least understand some of her mad desire for money even if we cannot forgive her for her actions.
