Therez a difference. Earlier only the vamps were doing seductive roles , only few films were bold, made on bold subjects in all languages ..Zeenat Aman was perhaps the first heroine who set a trend ..following her , there were plenty of heroines who did it..in the 80s.....now it's the mainstream cinema which is way ahead of those times... the web shows r full of sex violence and politics , none of it which I enjoy so I keep distance.
Yes I will stick to my point that west and a lot more factors influenced our culture. Last 1000 years we had hundreds or invaders and all those who came to India brought something with them , added something to our culture . I never said we r unknown to sex . Obviously it's a basic human instinct. It is integral to our life . However there is a reason people are not doing it on streets like animals. That's bec importance was given to aesthetic of life too. That's why marriage system was invented.
On screen , I know there is a huge audience of p films in india paki and south Asian countries. For those who enjoy it fine. Don't rub it on somebody's face who doesn't enjoy it. Cinema and other media are creative fields ..if they need only sex to sell their product , they better venture into p*. Whether or not an actor chooses to do it is.purely his choice . Whether or not we watch it is our choice.
The FL also used to do bold roles. Earlier only few movies used to be made over all unlike now where every Friday atleast one movie gets released. Zeenat Aman, sharmila tagore, Parveen bhahi all used to do bold roles and that too as leading ladies and not vamps. Same with a lot of leading Malayalam movie actresses.
All kind of genres come on indian webseries and not just on violence, sex and politics. Tvf rarely makes series on violence, sex or politics and they make a lot of webseries like Kota factory, panchayat, immature, tripling etc. If Netflix has sacred games then it also has mismatch which is a rom-com. I watched raveena tandon's Netflix series and it didn't had any bold scenes. Same with never kiss your best friend, ranjeev-divyanka webseries and many more which are light hearted and love stories. I rarely watch India webseries but when i decide to watch there are plenty of choices other than dark ones.
Webseries and movies come with censorship certificate. They clearly show the age restriction tag. Even the Hollywood ones come with warning. It's totally upto the audience to watch it or not. They are not rubbing anything on anyone's face. Everyone has the complete freedom to watch what they want to watch.
If we stop over sexualizing women's body then half of the things we think as bold and vulgar will look normal. Kissing on the lips is way less sensual than kissing on the neck or other parts like how 90s and 2000s movies used to show. 90s and 2000s bwood movies used to sexualize women more than anything with extreme sexist dialogues and toxic masculinity.
