Another interesting episode where Cookie's silence continues. Practically everyone in the family is against her now. Her siblings, sister-in-law, in laws, and even her children. Only the niece seems to recognize that there is some deep pain behind Cookie's silence and empathizes with her.
The way Hamna, Cookie's daughter spoke to her was infuriating. She had no business giving an ultimatum to her mom about choosing them or else...Glad that Cookie didn't succumb to the blackmail and disowns her kids as well in the precap...Stunning and hoot-worthy moment👍🏼 I agree that the kids are panicking but the daughter didn't even try to understand the mother's mindset.
Cookie despite seeming stoic on the outside is crumbling fast on the inside...she was shell-shocked by her kids' ultimatum and the contrast between how her siblings treated her earlier and how they mistreat her now. Now the same brother who was being grateful to Cookie for giving him a loan in his time of need will try to throw her out of the house. I am rooting for Cookie all the way. She needs to throw this useless bunch of people away and start her life anew, or at least take them back only if they try to understand her.
All of her problems seem to stem from her inadequate education- she has just completed her 12th and was married off as a naïve girl who was full of fantasies about a tall, handsome and brooding husband who would take her abroad. Now that the fantasies are shattered, she is looking for an identity of her own. That's very relatable and I hope Cookie gets to stand on her own feet by the end- hopefully by establishing a business related with cooking/baking because she is very good at that; or maybe pursuing a higher education?
P.S. It is quite interesting that even Cookie's name has been changed by her husband. She was Sharmeen, but now everyone , including her parents, call her Cookie. It'd be worth seeing Cookie reclaim her identity in all aspects, including her name. Her nickname is also so functional-referring to her being a good cook.
In many ways this show is interesting because it is far from a cookie-cutter one (Pun intended) Let's see if they maintain this throughout and don't give a conventional happy ending to it. (Not having high hopes though!)
