For Akshara, her main growth will be in her interpersonal relationship with Arohi and Abhi.

Yes she still needs time to think. She cannot give up a lifetime of thinking/love/conditional behaviour overnight. Trust me when I say no one will find this believable.

We have seen her take baby steps - once she would not even consider speaking against Arohi, more content to step back and let Arohi take over. - This is her development at the start of the story.

Then we saw Abhi enter her life, he stirred it and made her yearn and dream.....all the problems they faced led her to take that monumental step and declare her love in front of all. This is her first real growth. She has taken her first step against Arohi.

Despite Arohi making her promise not to tell about the accident, Akshu did it anyway - a massive and important growth.

During the policegate at mehendi - she needed that push, she thrives on external validation and so for her family to tell her it is ok to let go of Arohi, she is given the first glimmer that maybe she is not wrong...another important step in terms of her realisation her growth.

Now we will see more growth, but it will be organic (as much as it can be in ITV shows) so just bear with her. She will be faced with situations where Arohi and Abhi will be pitted against one another and Akshu will have to decide/make a choice. We will see her slowly choosing Abhi. The process will be painful for Akshu but eventually a good one as it will establish a more healthy relationship with her sister and Abhi.

The only thing I am frustrated with is the abysmal time taken show subplots and often it is so unbelievable that you sit there shaking your head.

underlined:-I absolutely love this part..u are right she needed tht push tht it’s ok to let go of arohi ..i m glad finally goenka’s are showing her the right direction..

...and tomorrow they will be showing her the left direction!🤣

Seriously, the Goenka's aren't very important this season. I'm betting that is the only important dialogue they will have for some time to come👍🏼...they've done their purpose...to give Akshu that shove, the silent approval...Akshu needs it, despite being strong she is soft and fearful inside. She is about to enter the unknown...often we hold onto the familiar, even when we don't like it, as it gives us security as we know what to expect....with the unknown, it is more fearful...scary...we don't know what's coming. Abhi will be her guiding beacon as she starts on this transformative journey of growing and finally moving into a more healthy relationship with Arohi/family.

Of course expect Arohi to make it very hard...some of the Birla's as well...even Abhi....

Akshu is the ultimate prize for both Abhi and Arohi for different reasons...two similar people pulling at her...how will she manage?.... how will she adjust?...can she?.... like a baby taking first few steps, Akshu will fall at first, make mistakes, even take few steps back and then will walk very confidently into the new person she should have become years ago if not held back by trauma, deathbed promise and a sisterly love that both soothes her as well as gives her a world of pain.

What we saw in the episode today wasn't Akshu making a choice, it was Manish making it for her while she delayed the inevitable. Also, by not making a choice, Akshu, you are making one - Aarohi - you just lack the courage to admit it. You know you can't decide so tell him that, don't make him wait for a decision that'll never come or one that you didn't make.

Neil, I'm with Abhimanyu on this part cause he isn't being selfish with this condition. Yes, Akshara is hurting but so is he, maybe even more so considering he almost lost his mother and the woman he loved (because the Akshu he loved turned out to be someone else - someone who doesn't come back to check the accident spot for injuries or report her sister's ill use of drugs to the family). The choice Abhi made in this episode were important for his self-respect and predictive of the future dynamic between A3.

I do, however, disagree and say some actual repercussions need to be put for driving under the influence, hitting something and then fleeing, and the criminal intent Aarohi showed. Take away her car Goenkas! At least for a while. As well as something for Akshara cause she too made some mistakes. Abhi, I know you can't punish Akshu but maybe some training on how to deal with mentally ill people (suicidal ideation and risky behaviour prevention and like seminars so she is more educated), and mandatory therapy for both of them (this one is definitely not going to happen since it's itv).

Manish, very little to say about you that's new except I thank you for acknowledging Akshu too became an orphan and recognizing that it's okay for Aarohi to have malaal due to Sirat's loss but she shouldn't negate that Akshu has her share of trauma or use it against her.

Satya vachan 🙏 Thanks for putting it all together so perfectly!! Agree 100% with each and everything 👍🏼

In reality, if Akshara was a real person, she shouldn't be getting married to anyone at least for now, till the time she learns to stop depending on her sister and starts differentiating between right and wrong, irrespective of who is involved in the situation.

Akshara supported her so called sister's criminal intent here. That was a low. But this is not surprising, since she has always been doing this - like her going out of her way and constantly lying to save Arohi when she got to know the MD seat truth. That's just one example out of Akshara being equally wrong in aroo's long list of kaands.

All this while, aroo's mistakes have been hidden by Akshara, but now it's a full blown accident which could have killed someone. Here too, Akshara took the blame without saying the truth, only to hide aroo's crime. She lacks the courage to be truthful, and needs therapy not marriage. She also needs to cut off aroo from her life, but kayamat aajayegi but that won't happen 😕

Actually, cancelling the wedding is indeed the right decision in this case. Abhimanyu or anyone else can never be happy with someone who can't differentiate between right and wrong when her sister is involved.

Akshara's blind dependence on her so called sister has no limit. What's the guarantee that she'll not support her sister's crime in the future?

She didn't go check the accident spot, and didn't tell the family about the accident or about aroo's overdose driving. All because she wants to save aroo despite aroo obviously showing criminal intent.

Now, if Manjari had not survived the accident, even then there's no guarantee that Akshara will not support her sister's crime. We saw that she lacks the courage to be truthful. She'll see aroo's cries, and tantrums about aroo's career, and will just hide aroo's crime, however big it is. It's become a habit for her, and there's no guarantee that she'll be a trustworthy person. 😕 Aise insaan se shaadi na hona hi sahi decision hai.

@ bold: 100% true. Akshara actually doesn't have a personality.

All she knows is behen behen behen, aroo aroo aroo. She can't even see what's right and wrong, and only sees aroo. Lol.

She was happily going to jail just to hide aroo's crime. Next, she'll even die for some other crime aroo commits.

She didn't even check the accident site and hid the truth about the accident from the family. And also didn't tell anyone about aroo overdosing on drugs. On top of it, she was justifying this to Abhimanyu, saying aroo bohot dukhi thi, bohot ro rahi thi. So aroo can do any crime, and she'll hide the truth. 🤢

Though I do believe Akshu has a personality and is a strong character, I just think she needs to be more forward with her choices cause, silence is a choice and I'd argue it hurts the most.

OG Akshara was even ready to hand over her daughter Naira (who was only a teenager) to the police, when she thought Naira had accidentally killed a molester. She never blindly supported criminals.

Hi.

Yes, it wasn't Akshara making a choice today. It was Manish telling her what to do. Or rather ordering her to do it. But that's not what bothered me the most. What is worrisome to me (and I'm sure for most of the Abhira shippers too, if one starts thinking from that angle), is Akshara didn't wait a second once Arohi told her that their car had been the one responsible for the accident. She ran and told Abhi despite Arohi telling her that she's going to ruin her own relationship with Abhimanyu, that he might back out of the wedding. None of those had the power to stop her. She had panic attack, she had tears, she didn't tell it to his face and hid behind a curtain, but at the end of the day, she did tell him what they did. No second thoughts. No attempts to keep quiet knowing or rather, fearing that Abhimanyu might completely break-up with her.

But today Abhimanyu asked her to choose between his love or her sister attending their wedding. An extremely small punishment considering the magnitude of what the sisters did. Yet she collapsed and is unable to choose. And THAT bothered me a lot.

The girl had been ready for a break-up yet now is unable to let go of this sister just for the duration of the wedding.

If it's an abusive relationship that she shares with Arohi, I'd rather they showed Akshara at least wanting to or fighting to get out of it instead of lumping everything under "conditioned behaviour" and / or "stockholm syndrome" or worse, make Abhimanyu come across as mean and unreasonable for wanting to separate the sisters.

As for the morality w.r.t driving under influence and not checking the accident site, ITV is incapable of showing sensitivity so no point delving into that. I know to what extent the writers can go for TRPs in the name of drama.

Sorry for barging into your thread out of blue. I'm Suvika, writer by profession / on/off watcher of this show and silent reader in this forum.

At the end of the day, I think Abhimanyu and the audience have to recognize there is no world where Akshu is happy without Aarohi. That's just who she is and the crux of the story (for me, and this is mainly what I'm watching the show for) will be her and Aarohi finding a healthy balance in their relationship so that Akshu's attachment wouldn't be her downfall. It is about Akshu and Aarohi's growth as individuals and as sisters. Abhimanyu places a huge role in this dynamic. After the marriage is when we'll get to explore Abhimanyu more as an individual, his background, his trauma etc (or so, I predict).

I actually think if Abhimanyu is the adopted child, it'll add to the similarities between him and Aarohi. Aarohi is Sirat's daughter so the connection she has to the entire family will never be the same as Akshu's. For example, while Kairav and Akshu call Naksh Mamu and Keerti Bua, Aarohi can only call them Bua with security. At the end of the day, the Singhania, despite their (minuscule) attachment to Sirat (Naksh let her tie a Rakhi to him, and in the flash-forward, she was referring to Naksh as Mamu for both her daughters, so maybe Aaru was taught to call him that initially), he'll have a preference for Akshu. Likewise, if Abhi's adopted, he'll begin to question his connection to the Birla's because that bond will be tainted by lies (no one told him that truth). They'll both come from the perceived "other".

Moreover, both of their families seem to ignore their misdeamenours. For example, Abhi's a rash and impulsive person who smashes stuff and disrespects his father (he has his reasons, I know, and I share many of them in my personal relationships, but I doubt the elders in his family see it that way). Yet, he's still treated the best out of the children and has little repercussions. Rather, his family gives into his demands. Similarly, Aarohi is a brat whose trauma and feelings have been prioritized over Akshu's all their lives. Both lost their parents the same day and held their mother's lifeless body in their hands yet one was consoled. When the Abrohi wedding fiasco happened, it was Akshu who begged for Manish's forgiveness after that day while Aarohi got to do her own thing - she didn't apologize more than once. She refused Manish's request to resign and got away with it.

Oh! You're into literature! Beautiful! What area, if I may ask? I write Crime / Thrillers. Started out with romance and branched out to my fav genre - Crime. Wish I had realized my own passion for writing while I was studying instead of going along with the herd mentality and doing my MBA. Better late than never, I guess. :) Wish you all the very best in everything you do and very happy to help you in any way I can. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you so desire.

@Blue - do you honestly think the makers plan to show something like that? All things aside, they first need to understand the characters and know what they are sketching. Here, half the time I feel three different writers are writing three different scenes and the editor is brainlessly clubbing them all into one episode. Or maybe the writers team is changing too often and the new ones aren't taking the time to understand what the previous ones are trying to take the character towards. So I don't have too many expectations :D

@maroon - Abhimanyu, I think is legally a Birla but not Manjari's biological son. If he is not a Birla then post marriage track won't have much. His dynamics at home will change. He will feel indebted in a way and mellow down if he realizes he has no direct connection with any of them. Even Manjari's hold on him won't be able to stop him from leaving the house. Remember, he does everything in extremes. So situation has to be such that he stays there yet the dynamics within the family change, including the one with Harsh and most importantly with Manjari. At least that's my thought on it. Let's see what the very "creative" CVs have planned.

@Green - Birla house (the overly dramatic scenes aside), represents a lot of households in India. Gender discrimination and value of a person basing on their career choice / earning. See them from that lens.

Goenkas - multiple aspects determining the upbringing. Kids feel indebted that grandparents brought them up with nary a word of complaint. (Most of Kairav's behavior stems from that). Grandparents trying to bring up 3 little ones at a stage when they are low on energy levels and dealing with the pain of losing both their son and daughter in law. They ensured the kids never lacked anything, in fact, overcompensated by giving them whatever they wanted. They probably didn't want to be accused of mistreating Arohi (considering how close Manish was with Naira etc) so they went to the other end of taking extra care of her. Of course, Arohi being present and watching her mom pass away also plays in their mind. Akshara had been a baby when her parents passed away, right? And accept it or not, the three years Akshara was away, they did grow close to Arohi. It is but natural. So they gravitate towards her first instinctively even though in their hearts, all the 3 grandkids hold equal place (maybe).

Sorry for the long post.

This whole subplot is geared towards making sure Akshu finally starts changing, so we will be seeing it anyways. Character growth is gradual, cannot be overnight otherwise no one would believe it. The slowness on TV does frustrate me...many viewers are gone before the character emerges strong and sure.

Here the problem is not slow character growth. It's one step forward, two steps back scenario. So much so that we are unable to trust any change / growth.

And yes, practically speaking, marriage at this point is not making any damn sense to me. Families hate each other, Abhi has his fears that are clouding every word and act, Akshara is actually thinking when he said - wedding with me / our love or your sister attending the wedding.

His words alone if you see, of course one would feel it's a tough decision for her to make. But the whole picture is that these two caused the accident to his mom, left her to die and fled the scene. Yet he is there standing in front of his whole family, defying them, saying he wants to marry her. Asking Arohi, who was in the driver seat, to not be a part of the wedding is an extremely small price. Yet she is thinking. It comes across as Abhi throwing an unreasonable tantrum and Akshara stuck between pacifying him and the love of her sister.

I agree. This is blind love. Not love.

It's going to take a lot from the makers to revive the character of Akshara for me personally. More than taking the blame for her sister, it's the hiding of the truth that is wrong on so many levels, esp by the person who is supposed to the FL of the show.

Interesting id you have. Gave me a chuckle.
