English ones are not like that

bold: agree. I can't understand why itv versions so scripted and TCT think itv viewers relate more to sob stories. Not just in reality shows but also serials to have kitchen politics - 2 villains of FL, saas and nanand.

.

I know article doesn’t mention Superstar Singer 2 but posting because SS2 will definitely have sobbing story. Reality shows can’t be without sobbing stories

Thankfully, Adi will have no one to flirt with in SS2 🤣

The last edition of SS did use the poverty angle, and, like in most such cases, the actual situation is far better than what is portrayed. This usually becomes evident once the show ends and the children return home - or should I say to a new (actual) home which is nothing like the hut shown in the show.
Strangely, some participants are really from needier homes - those are not shown as a means of attracting attention.
I remember Rupsa from Super Dancer - she really came from a hut and only after the show her parents built brick walls with Rupsa's earnings. But Rupsa was never portrayed as needy!
