I so so so so agree to this.
And will come back to this with a clearer head. The idea that people haven't changed their views on the show in a decade is ridiculous to someone like me who properly started engaging with ITV during the pandemic precisely because it's mindless and bad.
Whether Arnav is justifiable or not is besides the point that Arnav was a much better written character than anyone else on the show including Khushi. Only Shyam was as well etched as Arnav. It was always intriguing to watch how Arnav would react to a given situation whereas Khushi somewhere down the line became a perfect compliment to Arnav's character purely in terms of writing. Khushi had many traits of the manic pixie dream girl while, thankfully, not being one.
I also don't understand this Anjali v/s Khushi narrative either on the show or the fandom.
Anjali was one of the few disabled characters I have ever seen in Indian cinematic tradition. And at that, she wasn't completely sterotyped into being hero's dukhiyari spinster sister. She had a personality, real flaws, real insecurities that stemmed from her disability. And was shown to be moving on from an abusive relationship herself. So, um, real people are not infallible.
Editing to add: That Khushi was castigated for entering the room of a suicidal person and triggering her is not wrong. Yeah, Arnav and Manorama are entirely wrong in terms of how they lash out at Khushi. But, pray, if we treat Anjali as a real person and not a disabled sterotype, then we have to acknowledge that her mental health was more important at that moment than Khushi's need to assuage her own guilt.
