I completely agree with you. He once said that he feels most comfortable with her. I think he is attracted to her transparency and honesty which, as we have seen, nobody in his family has. He is pretty transparent and loyal himself, to a fault I’d say. They’re both alike in that sense - willing to go any lengths for the ones they love. For example, V walking away from PP for Sam, V marrying S, S risking her marriage to get P&D married, S predating divorce papers to save V’s job. I think this craziness is what connects them. It’s actually a beautiful love story of two similar but unlikely, flawed people falling in love against all odds. The execution is what sucks!! With that chemistry and better execution, they would be ruling the charts.

I think that lack of reaction when Shruti fell was because there is a Sai and a Sada in the picture too. So theres a soft corner for shruti, theres an unduly close emotional bond in a non platonic way and then because Sada is back and angry, holding a gun, he keeps a conscious physical distance. My point is that if there was no Sai and Sam-PP were together and Shruti had entered his life in the same way, he'd have probably married her for real.

And I agree, he wants to be her everything but he doesn't understand that the other person can also then expect that in return. he wants Sai's full attention but he refuses to see that Sai also would want the same- she would not be thrilled to be competing with pp or shruti for his attention. Does he give her full control over his things? His whereabouts? His room? He doesn't . Maybe in the beginning it was because he was a guardian figure but if Virat truly now sees her as a wife then he needs to realize that he is also accountable to her about answering things like where he is/who he is with/what he's doing etc.

Yeah that's what they implied with that scene. Why would Virat react much & meddle b/w a husband wife fight it'd have put his character in more questionable light regarding Shruti especially with Sada's presence, he was angry. I was glad to see makers atleast had the sense to not show Virat running towards Shruti in that scene atleast. Small mercy 😂

You have put this down so well. And I completely agree with everything.
Virat has a soft corner for Sai, but it has not fully developed into love. And that is the reason he is not completely affected or aware of her pain and hurt until it is physical. His feelings for her are more a result of a confined relationship. A relationship he didn’t choose for himself, but was a result of circumstances. Hence his feelings are a result of forming a bond, liking and admiring someone over a period of time after having spent considerable time as roommates, proxy husband and wife. And he has the Indian belief system around sanctity of marriage well instilled. So even if there was no real marriage, he still did abide by the boundaries.

Some may disagree that Virat is chaste and he will never indulge in another relationship. But over a period how the character has been developed and we have seen of him, he would have definitely given into Pakhi’s advances sooner or later if both Sai and Sam were not there in picture. It was Sai’s presence in his life that stopped him from growing that proximity, or else atleast the emotional infidelity would have peaked up long back between them. Similarly if Sam was there he would have maintained his distance from Pakhi, but with Sai’s angle missing he would have been still fixated on broken heart seeing Samrakhi together. Sai was that distraction initially. And with no obligation he would have actually married Shruti for real after Sada’s death. I agree that he would not have allowed EMA in Samrat’s presence. But I can’t even fathom how much more Patralekha would have stooped knowing Virat was a soft target with him still dealing with the heart break.

Agree. I dont think he has ever come across as "chaste". That doesn't automatically make him lustful or loose. Infact he seems to chase emotional connections a lot more than physical. In his conservative , conditioned mindset- physical relationship probably has an almost "sanctity" so thats not something he will enter into very easily. But he's definitely too gullible in a negative way- because he gets himself into really sticky situations despite seeing enough warning signals. And he seems to get gratification out of being mahaan and being "wanted/needed" by people. So he definitely has no sense of boundaries. And the problem is that even when he senses that the relationship dynamics are changing, he doesn't force a change or take a step back. When he first called pp as patralekha, i saw it as a good sign. I thought he was deliberate setting some boundaries. But he didn't stick to calling pp as patralekha or as vahini even after she literally threw himself at him and asked him to elope. He doesn't call Shruti as vahini or address her in a formal way even in private space and when they are not faking beinh husband-wifre. She was not even an immediate infatuation/attraction the way pp was- so there was no justification for such a casual/informal relationship with her from the get go.

Sai's entry into his life was basically a divine intervention- a twist of fate. But in an AU where there is no Sai he is definitely not emotionally strong enough to have been able to ward off pp or shruti's advances. Even in Sai's presence when he is not able to define boundaries, in her absence theres no way he could hold himself back.
