S3 Akshara can't be that way. If they're going to show that Akshu needs someone to back her up, support her and push her to excel then that's at least a decade old story. Why does Akshu need a guy to make her aware of her potential? If the romance is of today's times then why can't the storylines be of today's times?

I agree with you. I have watched season 1 and I have been saying this from the very beginning that season 1 was way more forward then season 3. Also, we have unfortunately seen itv content getting regressed.

Considering they want to drag the show how can makers show every thing in first 3 months? Also, this is makers show - they have creative freedom to show what they want exactly like us viewers have choice on what to watch.

I am not the right person to answer ur questions as I am not the writer. As a hindi serials viewer I said maximum heroines have always been non-ambitious and non-career oriented.

Season 3 Akshara's actions were never that of aaj kal ki ladkiyan. For example, no gal of today will tolerate the mental abuse of her younger step sister just because she loves her. After growing up no gal will force herself on her step sister ki "Aaru I love u so much that I tolerate all ur humiliations and blames so u too please love me." No gal with even slight amount of self respect would stay in the same room after getting accused of being responsible for her mother's death.

The thing is Akshara though is aaj kal ki ladki but doesn't think of prioritizing herself. It's ok if she doesn't want to work and earn money but the least she can do is stay away from her toxic sister and think of her own happiness too alongwith her family's happiness.

You put it very nicely and that in itself is what the show is trying to give us - that OG Akshara had to fight for basic things like taking her pallu off, the right to sing proudly, then working and etc whereas. But this current Akshara has a choice whether to work or not with no guilt laid on her and proudly singing and dancing whenever she pleases (harsh 'this girl started here as well?' 😆)...btw Harsh is a throwback to the minority but we saw how much importance people gave to his words!😈. This is a reflection of the society majority of us live in, do as we please as long as it makes us happy.

We think having a career or some goals is needed to make us happy but just like the five fingers aren't the same so are people and their individual needs.

Women have choices in every aspect of their lives now, breaking the glass ceiling in every area when once it wasn't so and so why shouldn't they do what ever pleases them?

I am sure once Akshu gets herself organised we will see some of her original goals. Don't forget this is the honeymoon phase of their romance so we will see lot dreams, dancing and just having fun (I hope!😆) but sooner or later life (ie RS) will start going back to it's theme.😃😆

I feel itv content is getting more and more regressive now. There are shows on child marriage that are running on tv which to some extent glorify them more than showing their bad effects on the society. 🤔 Then there's this new show about two best friends marrying the same guy. 🤢 What an outdated regressive concept!

As u said, Hina wali Akshara had to fight with her conservative family and society but Pranali wali Akshara doesn't need to bother about anything. Yes she can happily take up a singing career and no one will stop her but if she's not interested in building a career I don't think that makes her a worthless woman. It would have been great if they had actually showed Akshara more as a social worker than a singer 😆because she loves to do things for others than herself but then hindi shows heroines are shown to do jobs only to fulfill their family's basic needs and not to build a career. That's kinda like an unwritten rule of itv.

I posted on the thread 'why don't ITV show this' or something along that about why we see the kind of shows that we do even now. It all goes back to the core audience group. There are some society within India which still adheres to child marriages, some still believe in a women being at home after marriage and etc. Channels like Star Plus, though international, only consider the home country trps in their data and track which storyline brings in more viewers. I am in the UK, no matter how many shows I watch that won't be counted. However, to sweeten groups like us (international and those at home who want bolder contents) they will throw candies like Abhira and et al and bring in bold concept like 2 friends marrying the same guy rather than show one of them having an affair. Which is why many shows are mish mash with no semblance of what the original concept, theme and premise was!

I think RS is trying to show despite the generations some things are the still the same and that no matter how we advance family and tradition is important and the need and desire comes from oneself. I don't deny that but it also makes me wonder, on a personal level, if the indian ITV industry is full of misogynistic men or the real fear - why they don't show bold females - is due to losing their core belt audience? Either way I always try to enjoy the leads for what they are. I don't expect much, only for it to make sense. I have my remote when needed.😆

To me the important thing is characters making sense. Akshu does perfectly, given her background. However, I am finding Abhi a bit all over the place but I think I understand him now. He is strong, almost alpha but has hidden vulnerabilities that he never shows anyone else but being in love is bringing it to the fore and a man used to iron control (as seen in early episodes) he at times is falling apart as he does not know how to handle these 'new' emotions. He is sued to getting his own way, handed things on a platter so when he did not 'get' Akshu it was like the biggest shock to his system, he just did not know how to handle it!🤣😭😆 I hope they don't make him too pendulum if they do then the lightbulb that keeps going on in my mind when I see him struggling suggests a story track we might see in future.🤓😃

Even I am an international viewer of itv and I do believe itv serials need to be taken with a pinch of salt. The people associated with these shows make them just for entertainment of viewers. Viewers too should pay attention to the entertainment factor but the thing is we as humans always analyze situations with logic. We know itv shows have no logic but still we end up looking for logic in them. It's human nature to look for logic in everything and we keep questioning, yeh aisa kyun hua? yeh aisa kyun nahi karta ya karti? blah blah blah. And for this purpose only sites like Indiaforums are made so that we can question the makers and freely discuss the serials and many other stuff and vent out our frustrations so hats off to the site's owner for this. 😃😛😎😆

As far as I remember Akshara in S1 wasn't ambitious or didn't have a particular goal in life. She had to join Singhania's family business when Naitik fell into coma. Naira in S2 though wasn't also career-driven but fulfilled Naitik's dream by participating in a dance competition for certificate to open her dance academy later on continued being dancer in Akshara's dance Academy till her leg injury. In my opinion career, ambition or job is a personal choice. They are right now focussing on Akshara's singing talent or lover side (surely getting overboard with it) without proper career choice. Akshara is non-ambitious and Arohi is ambitious only ambitious characters aren't "strong" or "impactful" non-ambitious one's can also be strong because of their choices, maturity & character growth.

Akshara of S3 resigned because of Manish Goenka. She had a job and was searching for one till Mr.Mute Bhaiya decided to unmute himself.

I like most of your point.

But please take out of your head that just because someone is not earning they are less than those who are.

Ambition does not mean earning for a living. It is an outdated concept and in this age we need to become more open to what others want and not just force our ideology as one rule for all.

Akshara right from the beginning is shown as someone who is not career oriented. Albeit that does not mean she is not goal oriented.

Ak is a therapist but her dream is to work with patients in an NGO. She belongs to a rich family but she is equipped to stand on her own feet whenever she feels like it. But her aim and goal is to keep her family and everyone around her happy. She herself does not like to cry and brood in front of others. She cries alone then puts a happy face and works on making everyone smile with her bubbly character.

She is interested in naturopathy and mystic practices. She is creative and loves handcrafts, music, holistic remedies.

She is different from many but belongs to a new generation who are much like her. She is accepting of others and that is what makes her unique.

She is in love and her priorities are shifting. Till now her focus was family which now includes her relationship with Abhi and his wishes along with hers.

Now you make me wonder why she is shown wearing cheap clothes because those are not her interest. She likes to live simple, keep her needs to the minimal and focus on what she truly wants from her heart.

She rides the bike, drives her family around, helps in the kitchen, around the house.. many of the things that she will not be able to do if she was a hardcore professional.

Being in love she is not shy of crying and complaining infront of Abhi. A new change. She is demanding that she wants to celebrate be with him that she never did with her own family.

As for the damsel in distress- think of it when Abhimanyu skipped talking abt Valentiene's Day with her she did not get upset with him. She took the reigns in her hand decides that she will surprise him instead.

Her goals in life are different and we need to accept that and stay calm.

What happened during the wedding fiasco is writers problem. And so their relationship is not being accept that easily. I mean in Marwari family the girl would be locked in the room probably.

So well you are watching ITV. chill pill is a must.
