How often do the Idol contestants get to to perform abroad after their contract ends with Sony?? - I was always a casual watcher of even Saregamapa- and this was my first Idol. Arunita is the only participant I became a fan of and tracked after the program ended, so I don't have much idea about these shows abroad.

It depends on how popular they become as a result of their Idol tour shows and what they achieve as independent singers. A pro-active and professional manager like Chokolate Pi also helps.

In the past most idols who have gone abroad after contract period do small gigs, not ticketed shows abroad. For example I expect Aru to be travelling to USA for Durga Puja shows one day in future years. Usually such shows are hosted by ethnic clubs which are language/culture based. So a Telegu Assn, will call SMP. Works for singers who have a large enough presence of such people abroad.

Most ex-idols still tour abroad for private gigs. Ticketed events are very rare I think.
For a singer a ticketed event is an important addition to bio-data.

Other than that I really know of Salman Ali and Ankush Bhardwaj being active even after Idol contracts have run out. Salman at least has one Salman Ali film song. Ankush is still without a notable Bollywood song.

Usually by the time these contracts end some fresh batch of talent is available for shows abroad. When the singers achieve individual success then they start getting individual shows.

As an example Jubin Nautiyal is doing his first show in London soon. He has been around for long.

So, after 2 years - it will all depend on individual success. Even gigs in India will be few - if they don't get any Bollywood or a private hit number - which is hummed by general public. So they all really have to work very hard for that kind of success and then "luck'(the biggest factor). Keeping my fingers crossed for Aru 🤞🤞.

Indian gigs are plentiful and you can always find one if you are an Idol finalist.
But the quality can be very suspect.
Only the lucky perform at fat weddings and big events. Others do hinterland/Pub work.

She did that a few times in Idol too in various songs. It's not easy.
