Your menu looks soo yummy nethra 😋😋
I am a bigtime foodie, I love cooking and then eating the cooked stuff😆, this time I couldn't make anything because of my work timings, so I only helped in preparation of all the stuff.
You are a foodie! That's nice 😊. I love cooking too....
Your folks make so many sweets at home...!!! Wow....!
I think karajikai is like gujiya.....except gujiya is filled with khoya....
My mother used to make karajikai....but we didn't know what it was called....we used to call it sweet puri 😆.
I didn't make anything this time 😆. I was sick, my dog was sick , husband away for a few weeks 😆. So the 3 of us are our usual food 😎
Arre re....🤔. What a damp thing to happen during festival...

yaar they turned her into complete vamp
Wow, looks great Nethra.
I love Adhirasam.
Since I am not keeping well, didn’t make anything this time. We bought stuffs and my mom/family made the and couriered them along with some snacks from grand sweets 😃. Mom also can’t make much since she isn’t keeping well too due to her age, so she sent some snacks from Grand Sweets😀.
If you are interested to know what we make in general, I can share what we make and what I used to make when I was in Chennai.
In addition to the below three, I make ribbon pakoda, boondi, Kara sev, om podi and use some parts of it and make mixture. I also make Rava laddoo, kaju katli, gulab jamun and some new sweet every year. In addition to these, make legiyam which is like Chyavanprash which is the first thing that we eat on the day of Diwali after taking bath and wearing the new dress. We actually sit on manai, mom used to apply nalangu (something like Alta applied on the feet), then apply gingerly oil on the hair which is heated with Ajwain in it, give everyone some betel leaves and then we burst crackers ( Sara vedi) after applying oil before taking bath 😀. That’s my favourite part on the day of Diwali. Used to try to be the first one to burst crackers in our street or area 🤣.
Also, my mom used to make coconut barfi too every year which I am not a fan of 😂.
Thenkuzhal
Manoppu
Seven cup cake
Oh couriered sweets from Grand sweets 😊
Your mom to make some great stuff. I like kaju katli and love coconut barfi. 😊
I had no idea that different types of chakli had different names .... I call everything as murukku 😀.
What is seven cup cake? Never heard of it...
You follow proper traditions yaar, the nalangu and gingelly oil bath. So nice 😊.
At my home its opposite 🙈. We hardly even follow proper time. We make chicken curry during Diwali in the afternoon- that is staple ....and then have a 2-minute Pooja😆. Diwali over. Depending on our mood, we wear our Diwali dress. 😆
Yup, but usually I make boondi laddo, besan burfi and jaangri , mixture 😆

Yeah, karajikai is like gujia, but it has dry coconut filling instead og khoya. It is also called as Kharanji by maharashtrians, Karajikai in Kannada.
