Yeah...I was pleasantly surprised by the FL's psychological complexity...her defence mechanism, trust issues...and Sanam Saeed played it perfectly. ❤️

Don't they remind you of Sais defense mechanisms? Sai reminds me of Kashaf

I don't think the issue in this scene was the writing. I do give him leeway when the characterization becomes complicated - especially in the craziest phase post anniversary. This scene was not about Virat at all - it could be perfectly approached as a standalone scene - a man confronting his dad about his mother's abuse.

I wonder if the discomfort in family scenes comes from trying too hard to be "Virat" - the obedient, timid son - especially when it comes to Ninad and Bhavani. And Virat has been made progressively much weaker towards his family. Compare this scene to the family confrontation post ousting - Virat was broken and in no mood for being nice - Neil was relaxed, comfortable and the emotions and expressions naturally came in a flow. I'm not sure if I'm able to convey what I mean by 'discomfort'. As you said, maybe the previous director was able to help him in getting a better balance in the family scenes - although I have not liked him much in such scenes even earlier. For a few episodes after SaiRat marriage, he was ok - but then Virat was never shown to be weak - more like calm but firm.

I get you...And I get the discomfort and that specifica "trying to act" part...I have mentioned it in subtle ways about Neil too many times in the MF. You see he is a very limited actor.. His scenes do come across "acted" too many times...And then his uncomfortable body language, spoils so many scenes..He should stick to a certain genre I believe. Now I do think whatever good I saw was because of the director... I have always found him extremely overrated.

Yeah, I think trying to adopt the persona of the character isn't his forte - he isn't able to pull it off convincingly. Especially when he is talking to Ninad and Bhavani.

Another thing I realised. Purely based only on the body language of Virat, in GC, he was confident, extremely patient but firm. Soon after marriage, he was calm, composed but firm when necessary. After Sai-Virat started having their fights, he started looking more conflicted, less self-assured. Post ousting he began looking very very vulnerable. A couple of months back, I had written in one of my post that Virat's inability in dealing with conflicts with Sai, and his own extreme, uncontrollable reactions to them had slowly eroded his self-confidence and strangely another member had the same impression. Now I'm confused if Neil's gradual shift to a more vulnerable Virat was deliberate - in line with my interpretation of a man losing his confidence (required by the script) or an inadvertent, unconscious shift after the director changed.

Haven't seen sarapatta paramabarai - but I get the gist of the writing. It's beautiful. ❤️👏

It is very very true. A wife standing through her husband's bad behaviour is definitely glorified. A wife slogging away for her husband's family is glorified. Far from glorification, it is expected of many women. Even worst - the most unfair - women are made to believe that is indeed where their glory lies.

I haven't seen the movie either. Th gist is what I wated to share.

When I was young and used to watch movies and shows, this glorification never bothered me. I used to consider such characters as someone to be idolised. Unfortunately, there are too many characters like these that young minds start believing such characters and grow up with such mindset, they find nothing wrong in it. Needs to stop
