I agree with everything you wrote here. Sai was too possessive of him before marriage itself. She used to hate the name 'Pakhi' and with full rights used to ask about his whereabouts and whom he was talking about.
Virat too, left his so called love/ bestfriend's wedding, had exclusive reach to Sai in safe house and used to follow her orders whether to sanction Kamal Sir's VRS or to make sure that he took his medicines on time. There was a deeper bond between them then than Virat-Pakhi could ever think of. I still believe the day Virat reached Gadchiroli to save Sai from forced marriage with Jagtap and she emotionally runs past Virat towards Aaba to hug him, Virat expected a hug then. When he was with Sai, he would not think about Pakhi, however, when he talked to Pakhi, it was all about Sai.
The misplaced feeling of love towards Pakhi was a mental block for Virat which he transferred towards Sai. It's not that she does not love him, she does, she does everything from Day 1 for his sake. She just waits for him to say from his mouth. If he says he does not love Pakhi, Vaada is null and void and that Pakhi is nothing to him, not even a friend, she would happily accept the marriage, he might not even have to confess his love.
But this constant difference between words and actions, this hot and cold behaviour, this siding with Pakhi against his wife is what it makes it difficult for Sai and the audience to justify him.
Both Sai and Virat are fire... She by her words, he by his actions and both do not know the boundaries when it comes to each other. I didn't mind the lock-up drama as much as the ousting one because she managed to escape, in a way answered him back in his own language. Till the time, it's between them, it's fine.
However, I totally loathe the presence of Pakhi in their room at odd hours, the midnight chit chat, the 'hum' he used for them, the right he has given to her to walk over his wife, even his sister and mother, the protective instinct he has for her, even after Samrat is back. I tried understanding that but gave up.
I still believe he doesn't love her, he never did, but this emotional connect thing is going beyond the lines.
