An Introspection on a side of Virat.

Just because we were discussing this, I was taken back to this part of Virat, that I saw and ignored long back. This is not about Virat in the recent track or today's episode, this is about an aspect of Virat that I noticed long back when Mohit stood up for Sai the first time... That is his possessiveness for Sai.

Though he lets other people be the villain in her life, if they are his family members, but when it comes to becoming the saviour, the hero for Sai he has never liked anybody else trying to come into picture. He did not like it when Mohit wanted to get food for Sai, when Sai spoke about someone else caring for her...He did not like when Pulkit spoke about taking Sai's zimmedaari and he did not like when Samrat spoke about him standing up for Sai as a brother... He likes no man to be her own, do more than what he has done for her. He hates that idea..

He has been very weirdly possessive there..He wanted to leave Sai with his family, knowing very well how they treat her and how they treat her...he knows how his Sabse pyaari Cheez treats her...He knows Sai's support system are the ones who hardly have a voice..and yet he decides to go away from her by keeping her in the same house, instead of letting her to chose her own path, be her own self, get back to a hostel/pg. He also declared how no one can reach him out and only he would be reaching out to his family. It seemed like he would never free her as a wife, she would be bounded to him, in any which way. Not free by societal norms and also because of her moral encompass to have another 'man' in her life. This relationship was never about giving "FREEDOM".

Hmm. Interesting thought.

I have thought that he had saviour complex for saving Sai from Jagtap and marrying her. But did not think that he was like that in all aspects of Sai's life - wanting to be the only saviour in her life. It could be possible.

Mohit getting food - When Sai tearfully thanks her stars that atleast Mohit cares for her....i thought at that time that he was dejected that Sai never recognized his care.

I have to think about Samrat and Pulkit 's protectiveness towards Sai - as you said, Virat may not have liked it, but had no other choice.

The point was that he was stopping him, even though Mohit had his reasons for getting food for Sai. He wanted to punish her first and probably would have got it for her later.. But it has to be him...

Possessiveness is a very grey feeling. It can range from a father being possessive of his daughter to a toxic lover's possessiveness. Virat's possessiveness, I feel stems out of his vaccum for power. Position. He's a middle child of a middle child in a very large family. His mother had no real position and his father, well, we know.

Samrat being the eldest son would have wielded some power. Mohit was the youngest and Devi was the only daughter. Pretty cemented power positions. Virat on the other hand was in the middle with no real essential position. His infatuation Pakhi became Samrat's wife.

Enter Sai. The orphan. He was her link to his family. He suddenly had a very important position, a responsibility. It's like a child being handed over a toy for the first time. Possessiveness. The child would build it, he would also break it.

Sai was Virat's alone. Virat was the only legal relationship in her life. He had a right in every one of her affairs. He helped in building herself and when she went against him, unconsciously in his desire to repair her, he broke Sai. Just like a child would dismantle his/her toy trying to repair it.

I'm not whitewashing him. As a law student this is my job. We look for reasons behind the behaviour so we can save our accused or get our victims, their justice.

This is a good observation. I had not gone this way..

He never wanted Sai to go live in the hostel... Even after mirch incident when she tells him her wish to move out, he smartly manipulated her to stay back and in his monologue he goes like he wants to be part of her journey. Then in transfer drama, he wishes to go leaving her in CN, where she got pyaar maan turned to they never accepted her, in today's episode... He knows how they treat her. It was weird that he can leave the house but not send Sai to hostel...

In between, he voluntarily gives up his rights, in the ousting drama and in the recent Sai leaving the house track.

Idk what to think about Zimmedaari thing since neither Sai or him are clear about it...

It was his punishment to Sai, denying food... Wanting to discipline her... Also the lack of acknowledgement from Sai's side hit him when she acknowledges Mohit's care but not his... Same thing happened when Sai said that Sammy was good person at heart, he got offended saying does that mean I am not... It's like he is jealous of the love and respect she shows fir Devi, aai and kaku and acknowledgement for Samrat/ Mohit, he wants all for himself.

He is possessive of her as a wife but in a blink of eye can give up on her and on the other hand, would want to suffer all her life with his so-called family and bff... It's weird...

You are right. He gets furious whenever Pulkit speaks authoritatively about Sai. I actually liked that from Neil. Or even Samrat for that matter, when Samrat talks about Sai he gets that anger on his face.

It is a kind of saviour complex that has become possessiveness. The same reason probably he wanted her to remain in C Niwas when he got his transfer. That way, she is still bound to him. If he really wanted to go away from her, he could've asked her to move into a hostel. But that would cut his connection and he has to be connected with her. It is his need. We have seen this from the GC days.

True he gives up but not in a way where the two can be separated in legal terms. Sai has to be bound to him...That giving up is mostly to do with his low self esteem, confidence and not letting go has to do with being possessive about her. He would always want to have the first right on her and with no Father/Mother/Brother, he knows he will always have it. So he is not letting it go, till Sai decides to go for legal separation.

He does get offended when she talks good about her BIL and shows her love freely for Aai and Devi.I am surprised I did not see him showing a bit of jealousy/hurt when Pulkit talked about Sai, sharing everything with him.

And she would also be bound him , to be not be able to move on with another man who could have some feelings for her. He also gets offended when Sai speaks highly of Samrat or Mohit...saying they are her own.

@bold: Yup, that was surprising when he is offended and has been brooding of the fact that she didn't tell him but Devi tai about her plans of leaving the house.
